and villas. Situated on the banks of the River Tay, the 120-acre estate is surrounded
by scenic hills and woodlands, and makes for a tranquil countryside retreat in a
fairly secluded location (the village of Kenmore is close by, but bigger cities
require a drive). The upscale units vary in size from one-bedroom Cottages to
a six-bedroom Farmhouse. All have tastefully muted contemporary decor, and come equipped with flat-screen TVs and full kitchens.
Many have hot tubs and private gardens, and some even have Finnish saunas and
game rooms. The property is also home to riding stables, a nine-hole golf
course, a gift shop and deli stocked with local products, and a cozy restaurant
and bar. Travelers might also want to consider the neighboring Kenmore Club, which
is not as stylish or upscale but has an indoor pool
and fitness center, and lower rates.
Scene
Sprawling country estate with a collection of self-catering cottages and apartments
The Mains of Taymouth Country Estate is a collection of upscale self-catering cottages, houses, villas, and apartments surrounded by beautiful
Perthshire countryside. Situated on the banks of the River Tay, the family-run
property encompasses 120 acres and was originally the home farm of Taymouth
Castle. Though close to the tiny town of Kenmore, the area is fairly remote and
attracts travelers seeking a countryside retreat. As such, the property
provides a tranquil dose of nature coupled with modern conveniences, such as an
on-site bar and restaurant. This cozy, chalet-style space with a sloped ceiling
and wooden floors has a casual and relaxed atmosphere, complete with a pool
table. An open fireplace takes center stage, flanked by dark
leather couches and a smattering of wooden tables and chairs, bar seating, and cozy
armchairs. Since the property has few common spaces, the central restaurant and
bar is a main hub for guests to congregate and socialize.
Location

Situated on a 120-acre estate on the River Tay,
the property is surrounded by picturesque hills and woodlands, with the
sprawling Tay Forest Park bordering it. The area is fairly secluded, with not
much besides a handful of small shops and a post office in the village of
Kenmore, which sits on the opposite bank of the river. The nearest
supermarket is in the town of Aberfeldy, a 15-minute drive away. The Scottish
Crannog Center, an ancient loch dwelling and one of Scotland’s top heritage sights, is a popular attraction in the area, and is within a five-minute drive of the
property.
