Bottom Line
The Mansion on Forsyth Park is arguably one of the best -- and most special -- hotels in town, with a wonderful art collection, a great cooking school, a solid spa, an outdoor relaxation pool and a popular restaurant on-site. Spacious rooms have eclectic designer-level decor, with vintage furnishings and contemporary touches, plus deep soaking tubs, high-tech amenities, and original artwork on the walls. Those wanting to be in the heart of the tourist action might prefer a property located closer to the riverfront, however.

Across from beautiful Forsyth Park, in the southern edge of Savannah’s Historic District
Few upscale hotels share the Mansion’s wonderful address: directly across from wonderful Forsyth Park, one of Savannah's most popular public spaces, and within walking distance to restaurants, bars, and shopping areas. However, some of the main tourist attractions are a good 20-minute walk from the area.
The Historic District is the main reason to visit Savannah -- it has an old Southern charm with numerous parks and tons of well-kept, architecturally stunning historical buildings. The nightlife isn't as lively here as in other big cities in the South, but most of Savannah's bars (like infamous Pinkie Master's) are in this neighborhood.
The Historic District is bordered by the Savannah River and Forsyth Park, and includes the Riverfront and City Market areas.
- 20-minute drive to Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport

- 8-minute walk to the Savannah College of Art and Design
- 10-minute walk to various restaurants and bars in the Historic District
- 15-minute walk to Roundhouse Railroad Museum
- 20-minute walk to the lively (and touristy) riverfront area
- 20-minute walk to City Market, a casual eating scene
- 20-minute walk to Telfair Museum of Art
- 10-minute drive to the Savannah Golf Club
