Sa Cheya Relais

Situated in a quiet rural area, Sa Cheya Relais is a popular destination for couples on a romantic getaway. As there are only 20 rooms, guests are never sharing the place with too many people. The decor is traditional Mediterranean and feels very homey and casual, particularly the lobby's red seating around a coffee table, terra-cotta tiling, and framed artwork. The restaurant's wood-beam ceiling, chandeliers, and stonework are more romantic and elegant. It's the lush lawns, rolling hills, and flowering plants outside that really make the property a standout, though. The outdoor pool, terrace seating, and rooms all offer excellent views of the countryside. 

Sa Cheya Relais is nestled in the countryside, yet convenient to the city for guests that have a car. It's a 10-minute drive from the center of Alghero -- where many restaurants, bars, and shops are located -- and about 20 minutes from the Alghero-Fertilia Airport. A supermarket is within walking distance (about 15 minutes), but to access most attractions, guests will need a car. There are plenty of outdoor activities in the area, with nature trails and beaches within a 10-minute drive from the hotel. The hotel does offer a shuttle to the airport and driver service to Alghero's downtown and beaches (for a fee). There’s also a local bus that comes to the hotel a few times a day and then heads into town. 

This hotel runs on the smaller side, with just 20 rooms total situated across two floors. Rooms are homey and fairly modern, featuring either baby-blue or light-green walls, light-wood furniture with blue or green trim, wood floors, and colorful (albeit dated) comforters that match the curtains. All have either furnished patios or balconies --most with pretty views of the surrounding countryside. All rooms include work desks, 32-inch flat-screen TVs with international channels, in-room safes, and minibars. The decent-sized blue- or green-tiled bathrooms have showers, along with ample free toiletries, hairdryers, and bidets. There’s free Wi-Fi, but it’s not always reliable. Rooms are quiet and come with independently controlled air-conditioning.

Since Sa Cheya Relais is in the countryside and not seaside, the outdoor pool is where guests tend to congregate. The large freeform pool has a lovely stone deck with loungers and umbrellas, plus at night it has an LED lighting system that adds to the romantic ambience. Note that pool towels require a fee. For guests looking to exercise, there's no gym but there are two floodlit tennis courts -- though use of equipment requires a fee. In-room massage services and childcare are available for a fee. Wi-Fi is free, but is typically spotty. The hotel offers driver service to area beaches and the center of town for a fee. 

The on-site restaurant, Bacchus, serves well-reviewed fare for lunch and dinner. All rates include an extensive breakfast buffet that generally receives positive reviews. An indoor bar is also available for cocktails and coffee beverages.
