Pullman Timi Ama Sardegna may advertise as a five-pearl hotel, but with dated room decor, it’s more accurately a four-pearl property. It offers a full-service spa, gym, pool, free Wi-Fi, and dining options on-site. The hotel has direct beach access and is about a 10-minute free shuttle ride to Villasimius. The 275 rooms vary between dated and modern with flat-screen TVs, minibars, and air-conditioning, though there are no coffee- and tea-making facilities. Grand Hotel Capo Boi is a similar property with two pools and classic rooms.
Scene
Mediterranean-inspired chain hotel with lovely grounds and a clientele of couples and families
Pullman Timi Ama Sardegna has a wide grassy lawn surrounding the pool and a path that leads toward a sandy beach. The rest of the grounds are complemented by palm trees and Mediterranean-style decor. The large crystal blue pool is definitely the centerpiece here, and sleek outdoor patio restaurants surrounding the pool add to the look. Inside, the decor is elegant and breezy with glossy white or cream tiled floors, modern furniture with blue accents, and prints of well-known Sardinian paintings. Though this is a lovely chain hotel with attractive public spaces, it’s far from a five-pearl hotel as the property advertises. Rather, the dated rooms and lack of certain luxurious elements makes this more of a four-pearl stay. The hotels caters to couples, and there’s a significant number of families with young children enticed by a kids’ club and teens’ club.
Location
Direct access to a beach and within 15-minute walks of other beaches, some restaurants, and a golf course
Pullman Timi Ama Sardegna is located on the southern coast of Sardinia, just east of Italy. It’s situated right above Cape Carbonara and is a short drive or walk to two coasts that border the Tyrrhenian Sea. The hotel is about a nine-minute drive or free shuttle ride (provided by the hotel) to Villasimius and a 15-minute walk to two different beaches. There are plenty of other beaches within a five- to 10-minute drive away. It’s a mostly residential area so there’s only a handful of restaurants within a 10- to 15-minute walk away. Tanka Golf Club is a 12-minute walk. The Cagliari Elmas Airport is an hour- and 15-minute drive from the property.
Rooms
A mix of contemporary and dated rooms with flat-screen TVs, minibars, and air-conditioning
The Mediterranean-style rooms rooms at Pullman Timi Ama Sardegna are bright and clean but they’re sparsely furnished with dated and mixed wooden furniture, tiled floors, white beds, and colored accents in curtains. Some of the upper-level rooms are more modern and updated with a mostly white color scheme, gray accents in bed frames or day beds, and streamlined furniture. Amenities include flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, safes, and minibars. Coffee- and tea-making facilities are not provided. Some rooms have furnished balconies. Most bathrooms have showers (some covered with plastic curtains), and others have separate shower/tub combos. Like the rooms, the white-and-blue tiled bathrooms show some wear and tear in places. C.O. Bigelow toiletries, hairdryers, and bidets are provided.
Features
Outdoor pool, sauna, small gym, and three dining options
Features are fairly numerous here, but the highlight is definitely the large outdoor pool surrounded by loungers and palm trees, and accented with large fake boulders in the water. The on-site spa features a sauna, hamman, baths, massages, and beauty treatments. There’s a gym, but it’s fairly cramped with various cardio and weight equipment, and it can get a little stifling in terms of heat. For an outdoor workout, guests can play tennis on the hotel’s courts. There’s a beach nearby with a section that includes large pillow-like loungers and cabanas for guests. The hotel has three dining options with indoor and outdoor seating. I Genepri serves Mediterranean cuisine for lunch and dinner, while Il Mediteraneo offers international meals. La Veranda services the pool and is the only restaurant from which half-board guests may eat. Breakfast is a large hot buffet served at La Veranda and is included in the rates. Take note that half-board packages do not include drinks. A lobby bar provides a diverse selection of cocktails and wines. Room service is available. Business perks include five fully-equipped meeting rooms, a business center, and free Wi-Fi. The hotel also has a kids’ and teens’ club, small library, and free parking on-site.
