The 105-room, upper-middle-range Hotel Resort & SPA Baia Caddinas is a relaxing and family-friendly destination, offering direct beach access in the Golfo Aranci area. A range of quality features includes an outdoor pool and adjacent kiddy pool with ocean views, well-reviewed restaurant with free breakfast, and a kids' club, in addition to a pool and playground to keep children entertained. As its name suggests, spa facilities are on-site, and consist of a sauna, steam room, and treatment rooms for massages and beauty services. Rooms aren't a highlight, but they're cheerfully outfitted with beach-themed decor and have flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and furnished balconies -- many with sea views. Couples may prefer the Hotel Gabbiano Azzurro, which has a more romantic atmosphere and central location.
Scene
Grand architecture and colorful, beach-themed artwork
From the moment guests arrive at the Hotel Resort & SPA Baia Caddinas and see the impressive original architecture with a colorful mix of rock, stucco, and glass, it’s clear that this hotel has character. Given its setting along the water, the hotel's design and decor is beach-inspired and relaxing, with an elegant touch in most common areas. The lobby has a busy and quirky look, featuring a long bench with brightly colored pillows and a blue scalloped backdrop, a tree covered in white stone, and nautical-themed artwork lining the walls. The Baia Caddinas Restaurant is particularly boho-chic, outfitted with wicker chairs, pieces of driftwood, and jewel-tone glasses. The bar is similarly attractive with its bright-white armchairs, impressive wooden animal artwork, and colorful vases. Rooms aren't quite as impressive, but guests tend to be outside by the gorgeous beach or adjacent greenery-filled pool area. Due to the several kid-centric facilities, the hotel sees more families than couples.
Location
Beachfront setting with a few restaurants nearby, but removed from Golfo Aranci center
Hotel Resort & SPA Baia Caddinas is directly on the beach, in a residential part of the scenic resort of Golfo Aranci in northeast Sardinia. There are a few shopping, dining, and drinking destinations within walking distance; but guests are a 30-minute walk (10-minute drive) from the Golfo Aranci town center, where a majority of restaurants and the train station are location. The town of Olbia and its airport are about a 24-minute drive away. The hotel provides free shuttles to both. The hotel does not have free parking, but there's street parking.
Rooms
Colorful, beach-themed rooms with furnished outdoor spaces
Rooms at Hotel Resort & SPA Baia Caddinas continue the ocean theme, and are as colorful and relaxed as the rest of the hotel. They're not quite as impressive as the public spaces, but they're pleasant and comfortable. The design includes blue-tile floors, white walls, faux-distressed wood furniture, and pale-orange or yellow linens with coral motifs. Coral lamps, gilded mirrors, and starfish accents in the bathrooms add charm. Rooms range from Garden Rooms to spacious apartments with kitchenettes. All have furnished balconies or patios, some with lovely sea views. Standard amenities include small flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, air-conditioning, safes, bathrobes, and slippers. Bathrooms have either showers, shower/tub combos, or jetted tubs, and some can be quite small. Wall-mounted hairdryers, magnifying mirrors, and toiletries are provided.
Features
Lots of family-friendly facilities, plus a quality spa
Baia Caddinas is closer to the beach than almost any hotel in the area, a big selling point for sea lovers who don’t want to walk far to dip their toes in the water. Note that beach loungers and umbrellas have to be rented, but there's a section set back from these with free chairs. Adjacent to the ocean are the main outdoor pool and separate kiddy pool. Both are surrounded by ample loungers and umbrellas. Kids are well-provided for with a kids' club filled with games, daily activities, and a playground with slides and a stage for young ones to put on plays. Adults are also catered to with an on-site spa offering an impressive range of treatments, from candlelit couples' massages to facials and beauty services. A sauna, steam room, and fitness center with a handful of equipment. Dining-wise, a buffet-style restaurant is open all day and there's also a seasonal beachfront eatery with lovely views. Both restaurants receive excellent reviews. Also available is a bar serving light bites along with the drinks. Wi-Fi is free throughout.
