Hotel La Coluccia

Hotel La Coluccia offers a sense of urban sophistication in an idyllic setting, and a removed setting best for romancing couples. The whitewashed Art Deco-style building has a permanent art gallery inside, with an eclectic mix of pieces from a range of contemporary artists and a few comfy brown loveseats. This artsy vibe continues with the gallery wall of framed patterns behind the check-in desk, though the neutral-tone restaurant has a more subdued style. The indoor bar has a red accent wall and rose petals under a glass-topped counter for a sexy vibe, while a stocked bookshelf and cozy couches are more PG. Outside, the pool area has chic seating in a white color scheme, and overlooks the pretty beach. 

Located in the province of Olbia-Tempio in northeast Sardinia, the hotel is surrounded by lush countryside, beautiful beaches, and historic archeological sites. It's nestled away at the end of a side street in a very quiet location, with mostly private villas in the nearby vicinity. The nearest town is the seaside village of Porto Pozzo, a seven-minute drive away. There are nature trails immediately around the hotel but no restaurants or bars are within walking distance, making it necessary to have a car to explore the area. There are spots for mountain biking, hiking, scuba diving, and horseback riding within a half-hour drive. It's an 18-minute drive from Giants' grave, which are tombs built during the Bronze Age. The Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport is about an hour's drive away.

Each of the 49 modern, cozy rooms is dedicated to a different contemporary Sardinian artist: on each door there is the artist's name and a picture of them, and some room feature their work. Aside from the artwork, the rest of the neutral-tone room decor is pretty simple; they have white linens with beige patterned bed runners and throw pillows, white walls, wood floors, and dark-brown furniture. 

Some rooms have small furnished balconies with gorgeous views of the pool and sea. Standard amenities include free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, safes, and tiny fridges with a few bottles of water. All have work desks, and suites add loveseats and robes. Bathrooms have circle showers that protrude into the bedroom area, which provide an interesting touch but are small. Free quality Roberto Cavalli toiletries and hairdryers are also provided. 

Hotel La Coluccia's most unusual feature is its art gallery, which is free for guests to peruse. There's also a pretty sandy beach with ample loungers and thatched umbrellas. There is also a hut where guests can rent equipment such as kayaks and speedboats. A swimming pool looks out over the sea and has cushioned loungers and umbrellas, as well as a chic, covered poolside bar with plenty of places to sit and take in the views. The large lawn also comes equipped with hammocks. 

Indoor and outdoor seating is available at the on-site restaurant, which serves classic Sardinian dishes and a free buffet breakfast, and has live piano entertainment. A spa and wellness center has two massage rooms and a steam room, plus there's a small gym with a handful of equipment. The hotel has free Wi-Fi throughout and small pets are allowed for a fee.
