Hotel Cala Cuncheddi

Hotel Cala Cuncheddi exudes a refined ambiance, with natural light filling airy spaces. The lobby's minimalist-chic lounge has a deft mix of neutral tones and interesting textures, with low, ecru sectional seating and platinum area rugs. Traditional Sardinian pottery, wooden masks, and classic baskets from different parts of the island adorn walls and shelves. Sculptures with a seafaring theme provide other focal points, like installations reminiscent of sails and fishing nets. Welcome cocktails are handed out upon arrival to guests, many of whom are couples seeking a quiet seaside escape. During high season, the hotel draws some families with kids in tow looking for a peaceful stay away from the crowds. 

The hotel is situated on and isolated stretch of coastline on the Gulf of Olbia, with little around the property other than cottages and vacation homes. The closest town is Murta Maria, about a six-minute drive away, but the tiny village only has a supermarket and a few restaurants. More options for dining and shopping can be found in downtown Olbia, about 25 minutes away by car. Olbia Airport is roughly a 15-minute drive, and the main train station, along with the ferry port for trips to the mainland, are both about 19 minutes by car.  

Guests rooms have simple, sleek decor, with natural wood furniture, and a blend of white and warm, beige hues for a look that's elegant and upscale.  All units feature private balconies, with timber railings set in plaster walls, and garden or sea views. They're equipped with stylish desks and side chairs, plus wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, minibars, safes, and free Wi-Fi, but there are no electric kettles, coffee, or tea. The spacious, marble bathrooms have similar appeal, and have either walk-in showers or soaking tubs with handheld showerheads (there are no curtains or glass walls), and bidets. High-end Bvlgari bath products are a bonus. Suites offer larger balconies with sun loungers, and add double sinks and terrycloth robes to bathrooms. 

Top amenities at this property are its private beach and outdoor pool and sundeck with waterfront views. The beach is a short walk from the hotel down a gently sloping path. Along the way, there's a clearing for loungers for views of the beach from a higher vantage point, and down on the sand, small tables anchor umbrellas for relaxing in the shade. The outdoor pool has a wide sundeck with additional lounge chairs and umbrellas, and faces the water.

The hotel's Asumari Restaurant serves international and Sardinian cuisine, and it has a great outdoor terrace overlooking the water. Asarena is a buffet restaurant that offers free breakfast, and also has a terrace for dining alfresco. In the lobby, there's a bar and lounge with a piano, and an adjoining deck.

For wellness, there's a full-service spa, with a hot tub that's as big as a plunge pool, a sauna, and Turkish bath, and services that include massages, facials, and mani-pedis. The fitness room is small, but well-equipped with modern Technogym equipment. The hotel also has bikes to borrow for free upon request. 

Other amenities include a meeting room that can accommodate up to 100 people, and there's free on-site parking and Wi-Fi throughout, although some guests have said that service can be spotty. The hotel is only open seasonally, in summer and in early fall.
