Bottom Line

Hotel Altura is a mid-range chain resort hotel with 73 guest rooms less than two miles from the center of Villasimius. The small pool has views of the Maddalena Archipelago, and a white, sandy beach is less than 200 yards away. The charming guest rooms are divided among an annex building and bungalows with their own private patios. A buffet restaurant serves three meals daily and has indoor and outdoor seating. The entertainment staff organizes daily activities for guests and puts on evening entertainment. Prices at the hotel can be steep. There is a fee for card services granting access to the pool, soccer/tennis court, and beach chairs, and the hotel lacks a fitness center or beach bar. Another more affordable option, Hotel Cormoran, is a family-friendly resort with a charming bar on a patio near the beach.

The small pool is surrounded by tiled lounge areas and palm trees, and offers views of the mountains in the Maddalena Archipelago, as well as the waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The outdoor bar is light blue and has a few tables and a large flat-screen TV under a wooden roof.
