Comfort Suites Sarasota offers a solid value thanks to its many freebies. The property is well-maintained overall, with neatly-kept landscaping, clean rooms, and features such as a gym, pool, restaurant, and meeting space. Prices are low, but travelers have to commute to visit the ocean and other tourist destinations.
Scene
Simple but well-maintained hotel, far from the beach
Well-kept landscaping surrounds this three-story property, where the fairly generic vibe is nonetheless clean and up-to-date. A covered entryway leads to the lobby, which is pleasant and features contemporary, mostly beige decor -- the fish tank, newspapers, and fresh flowers are nice touches. There are also several living room-style seating areas and flat-screen TVs where guests can relax and hang out. Hallways are decorated in neutral tones and are rather plain, with no memorable design features. Guests -- typically business travelers and families on a budget -- relax at the pool and poolside patio with tables and chairs overlooking the lawn.
Location
Far from the beach, in the suburbs of Sarasota near Highway 75
Comfort Suites Sarasota is not located in the tourist-centered area. Instead, it's about a 20-minute drive from St. Armands Circle, a charming area with shopping, dining, and entertainment near the water that's popular among visitors. There are typical suburban-style strip malls and family-friendly eateries on Clark Road, however, that are within walking distance of the property.
Rooms
Nice rooms for a value property, but nothing luxurious
Rooms at the Comfort Suites Sarasota are clean and modern, with warm beige and dark wood decor, either two queen-size beds or one king-size bed, and separate sitting areas. Each room has useful basics: a mini-fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, and special outlet with multiple sockets for electronics. Bathrooms feel fresh and updated, with faux granite countertops and lots of space. There are individual air-conditioning systems near the window. As this is the suburbs, views aren’t impressive, although some rooms face a small manmade lake with a fountain.
Features
Freebies, such as the breakfast buffet, are the highlights.
The Comfort Suites Sarasota offers quite a few amenities on-site, including a small outdoor pool and whirlpool surrounded by a sun deck area and lounge chairs. These facilities are nothing special, but well-kept. There’s also a very clean, 24-hour fitness center with a few cardio machines and free weights; a business center with a couple of computers, several meeting rooms; and a convenience store selling sodas and snacks. The free daily breakfast includes both cold and hot items, like scrambled eggs, bacon, and pancakes.
