Zorzis Hotel

Zorzis Hotel is well-loved and earns many repeat guests -- primarily couples -- for the peaceful environment and the over-the-top hospitality of the owners, who go out of their way to create a friendly atmosphere. This adult-only hotel sits on the main street through the area, but traffic is light and barely noticeable from inside the hotel. Despite a blocky, white exterior common throughout the region, the building stands out from its neighbors for the stunning display of colorful flowers out front. Along the side, a shady path of paving stones winds through lovely rock gardens, and leads back toward a beautiful pool area. Interiors are less magnificent, but still lovely and peaceful. White and cream decor alongside simple furniture has little embellishment. Native materials from the island are displayed throughout the space -- items like small potted succulents, driftwood, and jars of black sand from the nearby beach. 

This hotel is in Perissa, a small, country-like village on the southeastern coast of Greece’s Santorini island. Within a five-minute walk, there are several restaurants and bars, plus one of the beautiful black-sand beaches Santorini is famous for. The capital city of Fira is a 23-minute drive away, and is worth the trip for stunning caldera views -- especially at sunset -- plus museums, shops, and quality dining. Santorini Airport is a 25-minute drive from the hotel and the port is 20 minutes away. 

Rooms at Zorzis Hotel are small and simply decorated with all the basics for a comfortable stay. The white and pale-blue color scheme is a common one in Greece, and here it fosters a light, tranquil atmosphere. Beds are either a double or two twins, plus there are a small desk and an extra chair, with little space for anything else. All rooms are air-conditioned, soundproofed, and have a private furnished balcony. They all have a mini-fridge, flat-screen TV, and free safe, and a kettle can be provided on request. Bathrooms are tight, done in beige tile with a cute pebble mosaic accent. A curtained shower has a lip on the floor to catch water and a handheld showerhead. A hairdryer is provided, and free toiletries include soap, shampoo, and shower gel. 

Amenities here are simple, but well-done and appealing. The lovely breakfast room, done in white and cream, has a quaint, homey atmosphere and includes outdoor seating overlooking the garden. The free breakfast is delicious, with traditional Greek offerings like yogurt, fruit, honey, pastries, spinach pie, and cheese. Figs are picked fresh from the garden outside. No other meals are served on-site.

A gorgeous, freeform pool sits on a tiled patio surrounded by colorful flowers and palm trees, with the mountains in the background. Free loungers and chairs sit under white umbrellas, and there’s a large built-in whirlpool. Wi-Fi is free, with a fast, reliable connection throughout the hotel.
