Scene
Contemporary business hotel with convivial outdoor areas
Atton Las Condes occupies an 18-story brick building that towers over Alonso de Cordova, one of the main thoroughfares in this part of town. Although the tower itself is rather plain and the lobby is a tad sterile, interiors are contemporary and well-designed overall, with large windows that let in lots of light, a contemporary combination of dark floors, clean lines, and soft wood accents, and comfortable seating throughout. However, the most alluring feature of this hotel is likely the outdoor areas, complete with a pleasant, if small, pool lined with loungers, and an inviting lounge that’s tucked away next to the restaurant and surrounded by lush greenery. Guests of the Atton Las Condes are mostly business travelers, though the pool and spacious rooms -- many of which have two queen beds -- also draw vacationing families and couples. Rates are on par with other upper-middle-range hotels in the area, and the property offers good value, but those seeking something cheaper in this neighborhood may want to consider Hotel Plaza El Bosque Nuevo Las Condes, which is a tad more upscale and features a spa and two indoor pools. Travelers wanting to stay closer to the city center without breaking the bank can check out the Gen Suite & Spa, which has kitchenette-equipped rooms. For something more posh also near major attractions, The Aubrey offers contemporary rooms, a small outdoor pool, and a cozy piano lounge.
Location
In the financial district, near the metro, a popular park, and a famous mall
Atton Las Condes is located on Alonso de Cordova, a major thoroughfare in Santiago’s financial district. The area has lots of shops and restaurants, and is popular mostly among business travelers. Although this may not sound like the most ideal location for first-time visitors to Santiago, the hotel is a 10-minute walk from Manquehue metro station, which goes straight into the downtown area. Additionally, the hotel is within walking distance of attractions such as Parque Araucano and Parque Arauco Mall, each found five and 10 minutes away on foot, respectively. Central Santiago sights -- such as Plaza de Armas and Palacio de La Moneda, La Chascona, Cerro Santa Lucia, and the Museum of Pre-Columbian Art -- are all about a 40-minute metro ride away. The hotel is a 20-minute drive from Santiago International Airport.
Rooms
Spacious rooms with contemporary decor, solid amenities, and modern bathrooms
The 211 air-conditioned rooms at Atton Las Condes come in Standard King and Standard Queen categories. Starting at 28 square meters (301 square feet), rooms are a decent size, each with enough space for a desk, an armchair with a footrest, a big TV console, and a luggage rack. The wooden furniture is rather simple and not particularly modern, but the combination of gray and brown carpets, black-and-white photos, smoky-gray walls, and black leather-like chairs gives rooms a more contemporary, if underwhelming, feel. Big windows let in lots of light, and many offer nice city views, especially rooms on the top floors.In-room amenities are sufficient for an upper-middle-range hotel, consisting of flat-screen TVs, minibars stocked with water and sodas, safes, and free bottled water. Wi-Fi is free throughout, but some guests have complained that it can be spotty and slow. Bathrooms are small but spotless and modern, with shower/tub combos with glass screens and dark tiles, gray walls hung with black-and-white photos, and white rectangular sinks over black-granite counters. Quality toiletries and hairdryers are provided in all rooms.
Features
Outdoor pool, free breakfast, restaurant, gym, meeting space, and free parking
A good array of on-site features catering to both business and leisure travelers are available here. The outdoor pool is one of the nicest areas in the hotel, with some grass, lots of plants, and several loungers. However, the pool is on the small side. The hotel serves a solid free breakfast buffet that includes continental options such as pastries, breads, ham, and cheese, as well as hot items such as eggs and bacon. For lunch and dinner, the restaurant serves international cuisine and snacks, including sandwiches, pasta, and fish dishes. Room service is available during opening hours, and a small corner with vending machines offers chips, drinks, and essentials such as toothpaste and deodorant. The gym is small but bright, and features several cardio and strength-training machines, along with towels and two flat-screen TVs -- no free weights though. Over 5,000 square feet of meeting space is on-site, including several boardrooms with audiovisual equipment and big windows. There is also an internet corner in the lobby, complete with three computers. On-site parking is available free of charge, and airport transfers can be arranged for a fee.
