The pools, with daily entertainment and two separate sections -- one with slides for kids and one for adults -- are the highlights here. The hotel's location -- a 15-minute walk from a small beach and even farther from the city center -- is not the most convenient. However, rates are generally low and rooms feature small, basic kitchenettes and beds for up to four guests, which can be a plus for families on a tight budget.
Scene
A sunny property with basic amenities
A large stone sign with the hotel’s name, and a red path lined with white columns, mark the entrance of this budget property. The white zigzagging building is a bit nondescript, but the variety of plants lining the front door add some charm. The pool deck, complete with a kids' section with several slides, is pleasant and a fun spot for families.
Location
A 15-minute walk from a small beach and the city center
The hotel is located between a playground and an apartment building on a small one-way street. The immediate vicinity is mostly residential, but there is a small square with bars and cafes a short walk away, and those looking to cook in their rooms can find a shop with the basics right next door. The nearest spot for a dip in the Mediterranean is a small cove located a 15-minute walk down the street. It is a little rocky and there isn’t much space for sunbathing, but it’s a good spot for snorkeling. Santa Ponsa’s main beach is a little farther away, about 20 minutes on foot or 10 minutes by car. Palma and the airport can be reached in just under half an hour.
Rooms
All rooms have furnished balconies and basic kitchenettes, but they can be tight.
The hotel has 145 small studios and one-bedroom apartments, all with balconies furnished with chairs and clothes racks. All units have small, lightly stocked kitchenettes complete with mini-fridges, sinks, and either cooktops or hotplates, and small bathrooms with shower/tub combos. Each studio has a double bed and sleeper sofa, and each apartment has a separate bedroom with an additional double bed. Aside from the cooking facilities, all rooms have small TVs, basic toiletries, and safes (for a fee). Wi-Fi is available for an extra charge.
Features
Two pools, daily entertainment, a kids’ club, a snack bar, and a basketball court
The Ola Apartments Bouganvillia is overall no-frills, but the pool deck is a pleasant spot for a fun morning in the sun. The main pool offers entertainment and music throughout the day, and the children’s pool has two slides that kids seem to love. Adjacent to the pool is the snack bar, serving average and overpriced drinks, pizza, and burgers. Additionally, the hotel offers a basketball court, a kids’ club complete with a playground, and a game room with arcade machines for teens.
