Inn on the Alameda

Situated next to the Santa Fe River, the Inn on the Alameda is nestled on a beautiful piece of property with adobe buildings, attractive grounds and gardens, winding paths, and shaded courtyards with rose vines. It has a serene, quintessentially New Mexico feel. The colorful Southwestern-style interiors feature elements like beamed ceilings, Navajo art, and kiva wood-burning fireplaces with the smell of piñon smoke. The inn attracts mostly leisure travelers, who mix and mingle at the free breakfast buffet and the free afternoon wine reception. The inn's staff offers friendly and attentive service and is excellent at thoughtful touches and granting special requests. Overall the atmosphere is relaxing and even a touch romantic. 

Inn on the Alameda is located by the Santa Fe River on East Alameda Street, one street north of Canyon Road and its numerous art galleries. At a seven-minute stroll southeast of Santa Fe Plaza, the inn is far enough from the plaza to be less expensive than more closely situated hotels, but still close enough to be walking distance. The Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi and Cathedral Park are a six-minute walk northwest. Loretto Chapel is a six-minute walk west of the inn and Palace of the Governors and the New Mexico Museum of Art are a 10-minute walk northwest of the hotel. Guests can take a 12-minute stroll northwest to reach the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum. The hotel is a four-minute drive or 15-minute walk east of Santa Fe Depot commuter rail station, and a 20-minute drive northeast of Santa Fe Municipal Airport.

The 71 upscale and quiet rooms at the Inn on the Alameda are spread out in a series of six adobe buildings. Rooms come in three categories: Traditional, Deluxe, and Santa Fe Suites. The spacious, individually decorated rooms have a restrained Southwestern feel, with many rooms featuring hardwood floors and decorative items like hand-made armoires, authentic hand-woven rugs, Spanish tile, and New Mexico art and artifacts. All rooms have in-room safes, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs with cable and HBO, coffeemakers with organic coffee, plush beds with Italian 300-thread-count linens, and bathrooms with thick Brazilian towels and soft spa bathrobes. Some rooms have some combination of mini-fridges, traditional kiva fireplaces, and patios or balconies. Suites have separate sitting areas with sofas or love seats.

Although the Inn on the Alameda has no swimming pool (offered at other Santa Fe hotels), it does feature an outdoor hot tub, set in a small courtyard. The free breakfast buffet is superb, offering a mix of New Mexican and traditional breakfast items like eggs with green chile sauce, frittatas, fresh fruit, cereal, muffins, pastries, fresh-ground coffee, fresh-squeezed juice, and items made to order. Guests can mingle at the free afternoon wine reception with snacks like fruit, bread, crackers, and cheese. The restaurant (dinner only) serves regional cuisine with locally sourced ingredients. The bar offers up wine, beer, liquor, and a wide variety of excellent cocktails, featuring a signature Turquois Margarita. A free shuttle runs within a five-mile radius from early morning to late evening. The inn also offers a small and limited fitness room, public computer with printer, lobby microwave, lobby fridge with cold beverages (for a fee), a coin-op laundry, and on-call massage therapy (for a fee). Unlike many hotels near Santa Fe Plaza, the hotel offers free parking. Wi-Fi is also free.
