SINCE OUR VISIT, THE RESIDENCE CLUB AT EL CORAZON RE-OPENED AS THE FAIRMONT HERITAGE PLACE, EL CORAZON DE SANTA FE. The Residence Club at El Corazon is a collection of shared-ownership vacation homes in a gated community -- an elegant, fully equipped sanctum just two blocks from the Plaza. The luxurious and spacious two-bedroom condos contain every convenience of home and are furnished with the most modern appliances and gorgeous furniture. Since these are essentially private homes, there is no restaurant, spa, or pool on-site, but these amenities are available at partner businesses.

Luxe rooms and little else
The grounds consist of the parking lot and a few walkways in between the buildings, so there’s no places to linger beyond your residence -- no common areas or lounges. The Clubhouse -- which basically serves as a hotel lobby -- holds the front desk, a small coffee station, and a tiny business center. In 2012, the tiny clubhouse and reception area were expanded and revamped, and an on-site fitness center was added.
The residences themselves -- called Terra and Montana -- are traditional tan stucco buildings typical of the Southwest's Spanish Pueblo Revival architecture. However, the club has partnered with local spas and resorts to provide access to a pool and fitness center, and discounts are given at nearby spas and restaurants.
When Fairmont Hotels and Resorts took over in 2012, the company announced partnerships with more businesses, as well as "club-to-hotel exchange" offers. The exchanges give residents the VIP treatment at all Fairmont properties with event access and complimentary amenities.

The El Corazon is conveniently located only two blocks from the Plaza and the multitude of shops, restaurants, and other attractions to be found there. It’s easy walking distance to must-sees such as the Georgia O’Keefe Museum, the New Mexico Museum of Art, and the St. Francis Cathedral. The free self-parking makes it easy to drive to farther-flung destinations.

Leather sofas mix with wood portals and furniture pieces to create the perfect living area. Gourmet kitchens come with stainless steel fridges and appliances, granite counters. The floors are slate, the walls clay plaster. The same keen eye was given to the details: wood vigas in the ceilings, Native American-style rugs and cushions, copper-hued lamps, and kiva fireplaces. These are truly luxurious, modern homes. The dark slate floors have radiant heating. Baths have granite countertops, jetted tubs, and glass-walled showers.
