Scene
Budget motel with a bit of country charm, a mountain backdrop, a tree swing, and breakfast room with porch
Set against a mountain backdrop, the Peach Tree Inn offers value priced rooms within a short drive of Cal Poly and downtown San Luis Obispo. The single-story building features brick accents and exudes a low-key vibe. Newspapers are available in the comfortable lobby. The breakfast room has floral carpeting and wide-paned glass doors, which lead to a narrow wooden porch with Adirondack rocking chairs. Patches of lawn are set with Adirondack chairs, picnic tables, and a lovely tree swing.
Location
On the fringe of downtown San Luis Obispo
The Peach Tree Inn is located on a fairly quiet four-lane street near Highway 101 and other motels and residences. It's about a five-minute drive to Cal Poly and downtown San Luis Obispo, which has movie theater, dining, bars, and shops. A Chevron gas station is conveniently across the street from the Peach Tree, and a trolley bus stops right in front of the hotel. San Luis Obispo County Farmers' Market -- with live entertainment -- is a five-minute drive, or 25-minute trolley ride. The Peach Tree is about a 50-minute drive to Hearst Castle.
Rooms
Rooms are furnished with the basics, and have flat-screen TVs and coffeemakers; some have patios
Queen, King Front, King Back, Double, and Creekside Rooms come with somewhat sad-looking furniture, and low-pile carpeting or wooden floors. They include free Wi-Fi, coffeemakers, irons/ironing boards, DVD players, and ceiling fans. Some of the rooms have faux fireplaces, which add a fun touch, and some King Front Rooms have sofa beds. Most, except for Creekside Rooms, have air-conditioning. Creekside rooms are larger, though, and have patios with seating and garden views, sleigh beds, mini-fridges, and sitting areas -- and its bathrooms have shower/tub combos. Other bathrooms have only showers, but all come with hairdryers.
