Bottom Line
Pier 2620 Hotel Fisherman's Wharf is an upper-middle-range boutique hotel that’s located near San Francisco's waterfront attractions. The 233 industrial chic rooms feature nautical decor and coffeemakers, but have thin walls. The well-equipped gym is open 24 hours and parking, although pricey, is on-site. The hotel has a stylish bistro, lounge bar, mini-market, and a VIP clubhouse. Multiple meeting rooms, and a large courtyard are available for private events. There’s no full-service restaurant, but this property is one of the best options in its category in Fisherman’s Wharf. For a pool in the same neighborhood, check the Hyatt at Fisherman's Wharf.

Fisherman’s Wharf hotel with industrial nautical designs
Taking inspiration from the iconic Fisherman’s Wharf, this hotel has a chic and industrial vibe that makes it stand out from other mid-range boutique properties in the area. In late 2015, the hotel completed a $17 million renovation project and brought on Laurie Miller of Anderson/Miller to infuse hip designs into rooms and common areas. The lobby features wooden floors, gray and red furnishings, industrial metal light fixtures, contemporary artwork, and a fireplace lounge set with modern furniture. Black-and-white carpeted hallways have a modern look. A ship’s wheel is on the generic-looking exterior of this four-story hotel. A valet stand sits at the modest hotel entrance, where there’s bench seating. The affordable rooms and central location attract mostly tourists -- families and couples.
Location
Blocks from Fisherman’s Wharf
This hotel is in San Francisco’s popular Fisherman's Wharf area, a few blocks from the waterfront restaurants, street vendors, shops, and tourist-congested streets. Travelers can easily walk to Ghirardelli Square, Alcatraz cruises, and Pier 39 which has the sea lion colony and Aquarium of the Bay. Nearby are pedicabs, taxis, and bicycle rentals. Bicycling to the Golden Gate Bridge takes 20 minutes. It’s a 10-minute walk to the end of the Powell Hyde Cable Car that takes travelers past Lombard Street to congested Union Square with tons of mid-level shopping and chain stores like H&M and Urban Outfitters. Business travelers can reach the Financial District in 10 minutes by car. Getting to the San Francisco International Airport takes about 30 to 40 minutes, depending on traffic.
Rooms
Nautical-themed rooms have mini-fridges and coffeemakers; some offer sitting areas
Spacious, industrial chic rooms feature exposed concrete walls, dark carpet, leather chairs, dangling Edison pendant lights, and quirky nautical touches. Metal locker-style wardrobes include mini-fridges, safes, and irons. Wooden laminate floors, industrial light fixtures, and shower/tub combos are in bathrooms. Deluxe, Signature, and Club rooms have 290 square feet of space and Premier King rooms have 320 square feet of space with sitting areas. Suites feature wet bars in the living rooms and Admiral Suites have dining areas. ADA rooms are available. All rooms include a 50-inch flat-screen TV, coffeemaker, hairdryer, and free Wi-Fi. The dim lighting, however, doesn't suit everyone. Past guests have complained about thin walls. Club Rooms and Suites get access to the club lounge, Club 2620, for free breakfast, newspapers, evening snacks, and an honor bar.
Features
Breakfast dining room, bar lounge, VIP clubhouse, and a gym
Pier 2620 Hotel Fisherman’s Wharf doesn’t have a full-service restaurant, but it has the stylishly designed Bay Street Bistro that serves a scrumptious breakfast buffet (for a fee) with bacon, eggs, fruit, and coffee. For drinks, including wine vending machines and beer on tap, there’s the EvenKeel Lounge, decorated in gold and neutral decor. Snacks, refrigerated drinks, gifts, and sundries are for sale in the Bay Street Market. Room service isn't available, but the hotel has partnered with Seamless for delivery from a plethora of area restaurants.
Outside is a large courtyard that offers rattan sofas and heat lamps in the colder months. In the lobby are two computers -- a PC and Mac -- and a printer. Four meeting rooms, including a ballroom that can be split into two separate rooms, offer 2,856 square feet of conference space. The 24-hour fitness center is well-equipped with modern machines and is bright thanks to a skylight. Wi-Fi can be spotty, but it's free.
