Pros
- Bayfront location near airport and San Francisco Bay Trail
- Spacious suites with coffeemakers and mini-fridges
- Executive Boardroom Suites with tables, chairs, and pull-down screens
- Indoor pool, whirlpool, and sunny fitness center
- Free hot breakfast and afternoon drinks and snacks
- On-site restaurant and room service
- 24-hour business center
- Multiple meeting rooms
- Free airport shuttle
Cons
- No restaurants or stores within walking distance
- Parking and Wi-Fi are an extra fee (included in some rates)
- Small bathrooms
- Restaurant is not open for lunch
- Airport shuttle doesn’t run 24/7
Bottom Line
The 340-room, upper-middle-range Embassy Suites is attractively priced, given its two-room suites, free hot breakfast, and free airport shuttle in a notoriously expensive city. It’s an attractive property that received a renovation in 2014, with a lush tropical atrium and lovely waterfront location near the airport. But bathrooms are surprisingly small, and overall value is diminished by fees for both parking and Wi-Fi. And, while close to the airport, no restaurants or stores are within walking distance. For a property closer to the city center, travelers could try Hotel Adagio. And for those staying close to SFO, the DoubleTree by Hilton San Francisco Airport North gives an alternative.

Embassy Suites by Hilton Hotel San Francisco Airport (SFO) – Waterfront
Scene
An inviting tropical oasis on the waterfront
The Embassy Suites exudes a tropical feel from the moment of arrival along the palm-lined street where a Mediterranean-style fountain awaits. The lobby engulfs guests in soft yellowish light illuminating earth-toned tile floors, walls, and couches and chairs across from the long front desk. It’s a cozy spot, in stark contrast to the adjacent eight-story atrium where a bank of skylights bring a flood of natural light into the conservatory-like environment filled with lush tropical greenery. Comfortable seating can be found in the expansive atrium that leads to a large patio and lawn overlooking San Francisco Bay. It’s a pleasant place to watch airport traffic or simply relax. Just a few steps away, the San Francisco Bay Trail winds along the waterfront to the picturesque Coyote Point Recreation Area. The Embassy Suites is a peaceful home base for harried air travelers or for tourists after a long day of sightseeing.
Location
On the bay, near the airport and office buildings
The hotel is located in Burlingame on San Francisco Bay between San Francisco International Airport and downtown. Driving time from the airport is about 10 minutes, and about 20 minutes to Moscone Center and other downtown attractions. The South San Francisco Conference Center is a 10-minute drive. Once at the airport, train service aboard the area BART system takes approximately 30 minutes to downtown. Numerous businesses and office buildings surround the property. Although other hotels are in the immediate area, no restaurants or stores are within walking distance to the Embassy Suites. But the waterfront San Francisco Bay Trail adjacent to the hotel leads walkers and joggers to the nearby Coyote Point Recreation Area where there's a lagoon and golf course.
Rooms
Attractive two-room suites, but small bathrooms
The generally spacious, two-room suites provide separate living and sleeping quarters, all with phones and 32-inch flat-screen TVs. Living rooms have sleeper sofas. Executive Boardroom Suites swap out their living rooms for boardroom tables, high-back chairs, and pull-down screens for meetings. Rich, reddish wood furnishings and a distinctive silver-and-dark gray striped carpet highlight the decor, along with earth-toned drapes, wall coverings, and upholstered couches and chairs. In the foyers separating the living rooms from the bedrooms, granite countertops hold sinks, coffeemakers, and microwaves above mini-fridges. Beige-tile bathrooms, while clean and functional, are surprisingly small with toilets wedged between the wood plus granite-topped vanities and shower/tub combos. The ADA-accessible Queen Suites’ bathrooms are much larger, with vanities outside the bathrooms, roll-in showers with hand-held showerheads and seats. Some rooms offer sweeping bay views, while others overlook multi-story office buildings. Wi-Fi is available for a fee.
Features
Free airport shuttle, free hot breakfast and afternoon drinks, indoor pool, meeting space
A hot, made-to-order breakfast is included in all room rates, as is the afternoon snacks and drinks reception. The restaurant and lounge is open for dinner daily, but not for lunch. Room service is available from mid-morning until night. There's an indoor pool and adjacent whirlpool, along with a sunnye fitness center with cardio and weight machines and free weights. The 24-hour business center has two computer stations and complimentary printing. Ten meeting rooms are available, including a 5,185-square-foot ballroom. Self-serve guest laundry and valet dry cleaning are offered, along with a hotel safe deposit box and convenience store. The airport shuttle is free and runs daily, and on-site parking is available for a fee. Wi-Fi is also an extra fee, but the hotel bundles parking and Wi-Fi in some room packages.
