It’s a great pick for those looking to spend some relaxing days by the pool under the Southern California sun. The atmosphere here is fun and hip, with a focus on design and the good life. The Pearl Hotel is located in the northern part of Point Loma, across the San Diego Bay from the downtown area. It is a couple of blocks from the harbor, so those interested in water sports may find this to be a convenient location. It is about 20 minutes from most major attractions, a couple of beaches (including Coronado Beach), and the lively bars and restaurants of the Gaslamp Quarter. Shelter Island, with its pretty harbor and restaurants, is just over a mile from the hotel, and the airport is a five-minute drive away.

The hotel offers three room types: Strand, Jewel, and Gem rooms. They all have contemporary decor with low platform beds, large wall paintings and some custom mosaic art, and a couple of mid-century modern-inspired touches. Flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, H2O toiletries and free Wi-Fi are all standard features here, as well. Strand Rooms are the largest, and have furnished patios or balconies, and glass walk-in showers. Jewel Rooms are a tad smaller, but a few of them have patios or balconies, and all have king-size beds. Gem Rooms have mirrored ceilings and queen-size beds to add some visual space, but they are tiny.
