La Costa's sprawling property is picturesque, with white stucco buildings, manicured grounds, fountains and walking paths surrounded by flowers and foliage. Since the 400-acre grounds can be a hassle to walk around, guests can save time by catching the hotel shuttle. Most rooms and suites were updated in 2011, as well as the golf course, adult pool, conference center, outdoor function spaces, and facilities for members of The Club at La Costa.La Costa provides an activities-packed resort experience that's somewhat rare in Southern California, with fitness classes, tennis and golf clinics, yoga, a game room, a reptile show, a surf camp, croquet, water aerobics…the list goes on.

Big rooms start at 425 square feet, and they all come with flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, and marble-tile bathrooms. The overal feel is airy and SoCal comfortable, but not exceptionally stylish or luxurious. The lower-level rooms are decorated in shades of blue and beige; larger suites have soaking tubs and separate showers; and Villas are equipped with kitchens, dining tables, and fireplaces.The standard Plaza Rooms are closest to the Clubhouse, where the restaurants, Splash Landing pool, and kid's club are located.All rooms include:- Flat-screen TV
