L'Auberge Del
Mar is a treat for the senses from the moment guests step into the spacious,
cream-hued lobby. Elegant sofas and ottomans fill the space, which has hardwood
floors, lots of large windows filling the room with natural light, and
potted topiaries. Glass
doors open onto a large, furnished terrace that offers gorgeous views over the
Pacific Ocean. The lovely grounds include many outdoor seating areas on a
number of terraces, all of which overlook the ocean, as well as green lawns,
plants, and palm trees. The renowned Kitchen 1540 restaurant features stylish, modern decor with an open kitchen and a lovely terrace for alfresco dining with cabanas and plush sofas. The vibe throughout is upscale, yet relaxed, and attracts a well-heeled clientele of mostly couples.

L'Auberge Del Mar is located directly on the beach, in the picturesque
and pocket-size Del Mar Village, home to great restaurants and shops. The vibe
here is typical SoCal -- laid-back, relaxed, and quiet. Though the small
village feeling has been preserved, San Diego’s vibrant nightlife is only a
20-minute drive away, so it’s also a good spot for those looking forward to a
night out in town and a day on some of the most beautiful beaches in
California. The resort is a short drive away from several attractions including
the Del Mar Race Track (three minutes away), Torrey Pines State Park
(nine minutes), and the Rancho Santa Fe Polo Fields (nine minutes), as well as
being close to several golf courses, such as the Grand Golf Club (16 minutes) and Encinitas Ranch Golf Course (18 minutes). The San Diego
International Airport can be reached in 20 minutes, while the Los Angeles
International Airport is about 90 minutes away.

L'Auberge Del Mar's 121 spotless rooms have the homey feel of a luxury beach house. They're doused in soft colors: cream walls, white wood furniture, and plush white beds
topped with olive-hued duvets and accent pillows emblazoned with a subtle palm
tree print. Tasteful details like framed palm tree illustrations on the walls
add a tropical touch. Rooms open onto private patios or balconies furnished with
seating, some of which offer coastal ocean or garden views, though some
overlook the parking lot. All rooms have 42-inch flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, Keurig coffeemakers, minibars,
work desks, fluffy bathrobes, and free Wi-Fi (though spotty), and some have marble fireplaces.
Lovely marble bathrooms have walk-in rainfall showers (some suites also have
soaking tubs), ample vanity areas, and a range of toiletries.

The hotel’s acclaimed restaurant,
Kitchen 1540, serves an American farm-to-table menu of seafood, meat, salads,
and an acclaimed roasted pumpkin risotto for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The
stylish space has an outdoor patio for alfresco dining, as well as a full
bar with an extensive wine list and specialty cocktails.
The outdoor Coastline restaurant has a California-style menu and a good
selection of wines and cocktails. The Living Room Bar is located in the lobby
and features a happy hour as well as live music nights, while the poolside
Bleu Bar
serves a selection of drinks and light bites.The hotel has a full-service spa offering
an array of treatments including massages, facials, waxing, and nail services,
with 10 treatment rooms and both indoor and outdoor relaxation areas. There’s also
a fitness center that’s well equipped with modern machines, plus two lighted
tennis courts. The outdoor pool is small, but offers padded loungers and
cabanas to relax in, and there’s a hot tub as well. A landscaped footpath from the property leads
directly to Del Mar Beach. The hotel has extensive meeting
and event facilities including two ballrooms with terraces and six meeting
rooms. There is a business center on-site. An obligatory resort fee is included in the room rates and covers facilities and Wi-Fi, though the signal is reportedly spotty and slow.
