Wyndham Garden San Antonio Riverwalk/Museum Reach

The Wyndham Garden San Antonio Riverwalk/Museum Reach attracts leisure and business travelers with its setting on a quieter section of the famous River Walk. Though it's a long walk to the main hub of bars and restaurants, that means it's also removed from the noise. The four-story hotel has Southwestern-inspired decor throughout, though particularly in the lobby -- the maroon-and-orange color palette can be found in the striped carpeting, patterned sofas, and bright walls. The well-reviewed Bourbon Street seafood restaurant on-site has an elegant ambience, enhanced by an outdoor terrace offering direct views of the river. Outdoor seating continues on the stone deck in front of the hotel, where there are palm trees and colorful orange-and-red-striped couches.  

This hotel is located on a quiet section of San Antonio's famous River Walk -- a network of walkways with shops, restaurants, and sights along the San Antonio River. There are many cultural attractions within walking distance, including the San Antonio Museum of Art (a seven-minute walk away), the DoSeum (six-minute walk), and Majestic Theater (18-minute walk). Both the central area of the River Walk -- with popular restaurants and bars -- and the Alamo are about a 20-minute walk away. There aren't a ton of restaurants and bars in the immediate vicinity, though Paramour is a popular rooftop bar (one-minute walk) and The Brooklynite (five-minute walk) is a hip cocktail bar. The popular Pearl Brewery area, with restaurants, bars, boutiques, and farmers' markets, can be reached in 16 minutes by foot. The San Antonio International Airport is a 15-minute drive away and the AT&T Center is an 11-minute drive. The hotel only offers valet parking for a fee.

The 131 non-smoking rooms are comfortable and contemporary, outfitted in colorful palettes of either green and blue or red and gold, which come through in the bed runners, accent walls, and throw pillows. The wood furniture is in good condition, but the navy-blue carpeting in some feels a bit dated. Framed colorful paintings of San Antonio scenes are a pleasant touch. Sitting areas include either chaise loungers or sofas. Some rooms come with furnished balconies overlooking the river, which many past guests feel are worth the upgrade. Standard amenities include minibars, safes, flat-screen TVs, and coffeemakers, plus free Wi-Fi and work desks. Bathrooms are a good size and either come with a shower/tub combo or large walk-in shower. Free toiletries and hairdryers are provided. 

The Southern flare is apparent in the on-site Cajun restaurant, Bourbon Street Seafood Kitchen, which is one of three locations in San Antonio. The upscale eatery serves dishes like blackened catfish and crawfish etouffee for lunch and dinner. It has both indoor and outdoor seating, the latter with views of the river. Jazz Cafe serves a buffet breakfast for a fee, or quick snacks and sundries can be bought at the on-site shop. Room service is also available.  Other features include a well-lit fitness center with modern equipment, and a heated outdoor pool with lounge chairs and a separate hot tub. A business center has couches and a computer and printer, plus meeting spaces are available. The hotel has a pet-friendly policy; one pet is allowed per room for a daily fee. Wi-Fi is free throughout.
