A streamlined wood reception desk welcomes guests, while rectangular marble columns boost up the elegance. Stairways are adorned with antique paintings in ornate golden frames. The hotel's restaurants are the star of the show here. An Austrian-style beer cellar sits at the bottom of the hotel, and a chic Sky Bar and restaurant with spectacular views is perched at the top. The IMLAUER HOTEL PITTER’s proximity to local attractions draws in tourists, though its smart, polished decor and on-site meeting rooms make it ideal for business travelers as well. 

The hotel faces a traffic circle in downtown Salzburg surrounded by local shops and eateries. From this location, its only a three-minute walk to Mirabell Palace and an eight-minute walk to Salzburg’s central station. Most attractions can be traveled to on foot, with an approximately 12-minute walk to Salzburg’s Old Town and Mozart’s birthplace and a lengthier 17-minute walk to the Salzburg Festival. The Hohensalzburg Fortress can be reached by public transportation in 25 minutes. Salzburg Airport is 25 minutes from the hotel via public transportation. Those arriving in Salzburg by car will find on-site parking, though this costs an extra daily fee that some guests find pricey. 

Rooms range significantly in size, though most are fairly spacious, and many can accommodate groups or families. They feature beautiful dark wood floors that pair well with crisp white walls, gray upholstered furniture, and luxurious white bedding with purple accents. Sophisticated, modern details -- like an elegant headboards with a mirrored frame, built-in reading lights, and a lush headboard -- add to the ambience. Bathrooms are stylish and modern. In the Junior Suite, for example, there are white tiled floors, recessed lighting, an a brown damask accent wall. A giant mirror spans one wall, with double sinks beneath, while a spacious walk-in shower is closed off from the room with a glass door. All bathrooms contain hairdryers and free toiletries. 

Rooms have air-conditioning, a safe, a flat-screen television, bathrobes, and slippers. Rooms also come with a stocked minibar and an electric kettle with coffee, tea, and hot chocolate selections. While rooms have free standard Wi-Fi, some guests complain that it’s slow or spotty. Light sleepers should choose courtyard-facing rooms higher up to avoid street noise.

The hotel’s on-site restaurants and bars are what make this property standout from the crowd. These establishments are popular with locals too, especially the PitterKeller bar and restaurant. Located in the basement of the hotel and decorated in the style of a charming and rustic Austrian bar, this is actually the oldest beer cellar in Salzburg. On the other end of the spectrum (and building), there’s the Imlauer Sky Bar and Restaurant, with chic, cosmopolitan decor, indoor and outdoor dining areas, and spectacular city views. An “American-style” ground floor bar offers cocktails and snacks, and the Restaurant Rainerstube is available for events. The buffet breakfast (for a fee) is served in the sky bar, and features an array of hot and cold foods and fresh fruits, though guests are most impressed by the view. 

Other on-site facilities include 13 event rooms, including boardroom-style meeting rooms and a chic auditorium that can host up to 500 people. There is also a 24-hour business center and computers available for use in the hotel lobby. The top-floor fitness center is simple but chic, and clearly part of the refurbishment. It has elegant hardwood floors and floor-to-ceiling windows that look out over the city, though it only contains a handful of cardio machines, a water fountain, and a towel station. Fresh, light-colored wood comprises the stylish on-site sauna.
