DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel Salt Lake City

Formerly an
Embassy Suites, this property still bears the chain’s trademark look with an entirely open-concept interior. The exterior resembles a beige office building, but a huge atrium defines the hotel's interior, and gives guests plenty of space
to dine, relax, or hold meetings. Overall, the hotel feels light and airy
due to the soaring atrium and white walls. Decor in the lobby is corporate and modern, with small rugs, armchairs, and throw pillows in dark leathers, deep earth tones, and pops of turquoise or red. Natural light spills into the wide
open main space, which has a flowing fountain, small wood tables and chairs, and decorative plants everywhere. The breakfast
buffet is served in Stephen’s American Bistro, which is a little
cave-like with dark wood and floral-patterned carpeting, but it’s possible to eat at one of the tables in the open atrium.
Bar 110 is colorful and modern with red vinyl chairs and a sleek, black
island-style bar. There's ample meeting space for weddings and business meetings. Kids will enjoy the small indoor pool, but it won't take more than 10 people to make it feel a
bit crowded. Free, freshly baked cookies are available every day at reception, appealing to the tourists and business travelers who tend to stay here. 

This hotel sits on a busy but
open street corner occupied by several businesses. There are a few other hotels
on the surrounding blocks, as well as a couple of popular coffee shops. Casual restaurants and bars are also within a 10-minute walk. The property is not as close to downtown as some other hotels, as many
attractions are a bit
of a hike. However, the free hotel shuttle makes everything easily accessible. For those planning to walk, EnergySolutions Arena is about 25 minutes, while Salt Palace Convention Center, City Library,
and City Creek shopping center are within 15 to 20 minutes on foot. Temple Square is almost a half-hour walk, and Salt Lake City Airport is a 10-minute drive from the
hotel.

All rooms at this DoubleTree are
spacious suites decorated in somewhat corporate style, with dark woods, earth tones, carpeting, and warm lighting. Each has a separate living room with couch, armchair, flat-screen TV, and window overlooking the interior hallway and courtyard. Bedrooms are spacious, with flat-screen TVs, desks, comfy beds, and large windows, some with views of downtown. Each suite has a mini-fridge, sink, microwave, and coffeemaker with high-quality coffee. Bathrooms are nicely
decorated with dark granite countertops and rustic, beige tiles
on the floors and lining the shower/tub combos.

While the breakfast buffet is not included in the basic room
price, it's available through some packages and offers an array of eggs, meats, and hot items. Stephen’s American Bistro serves
southwest-influenced American fare for
lunch and dinner, and Bar 110 is open until midnight. Room service is also available
from morning until late evening. The hotel offers free parking, a free shuttle
to-and-from the airport and local attractions, and free Wi-Fi. There are a small, heated indoor pool and hot
tub, plus a fitness room with a small selection of weights and machines. There are a couple of computers available for guest use, plus
several meeting rooms and a banquet hall. An on-site convenience store sells
snacks, drinks, and necessities. There is no elevator nor quick access to the hotel entrance once in the free parking garage.
