Scene
Heritage building with a romantic Old-World atmosphere
Built in 1853, Kempinski Hotel Moika 22 is housed in an imposing neoclassical building in the heart of St Peterburg's historic center. The hotel's expansive lobby is elegant and opulent, from the soaring atrium ceiling topped with chandeliers down to the multi-toned marble floor. Wingback armchairs covered in beige velour or burgundy damask fabric add to the grandeur, as do the paintings by Old Masters adorning the walls. But while the property is certainly posh, certain details like the hallways' navy carpeting feel a touch dowdy. This luxury hotel caters to well-heeled business and leisure travelers who don't mind splurging for an ornate setting. The romantic and Old World atmosphere also makes it popular with couples on city getaways.

Rooms
Spacious and lavishly decorated rooms and suites, some with beautiful views
The Kempinski Hotel Moika 22 offers four different room categories, and five types of suites; the smallest are the single-occupancy Business Rooms, with 215 square feet of floor space. In keeping with the hotel's opulent atmosphere, rooms are decorated in rich textiles and saturated colors. Floors are covered in navy-blue carpeting and furniture is finished in dark mahogany tones. Photographic prints with naval themes adorn the walls. Suites are considerably more spacious and decorated in a more ostentatious style, with patterned wallpaper, chandeliers, and heavy drapes. Louis XV-style furniture, gilded mirrors, and oil paintings provide the finishing touches. It's regal, but some may find this brand of Old World elegance a bit fussy. Standard amenities include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and minibars. Most rooms lack coffee- and tea-making facilities. Bathrooms have elegant black-and-white tiling and come fitted with shower/tub combos, heated floors, and magnifying mirrors. Bathrobes, hairdryers, and luxe toiletries are provided. Suites have separate living rooms as well as a few luxurious extras including spacious white-marble bathrooms with separate bathtubs and rainfall showers, while Executive Suites add Nespresso machines and welcome platters with free Champagne, chocolate, and fruit. Some rooms have scenic views over the river, or of historic landmarks like the Winter Palace, and Church of the Spilled Blood.
