Scene
A full-service spa and rooftop cocktail bar make this property stand out
The Trilussa Palace Congress & Spa stands out more for its amenities than its 45 rooms. As the name suggests, the large on-site spa is a huge draw for anyone looking to be pampered while traveling, offering everything from rose pedal baths to couples’ massages. A sizable lobby area offers plush seating and marble floor work inspired by Renaissance craftsmanship, and the Trilussa’s interior walls showcase exclusive artwork from Roman painter Paola Romano. The airy rooftop cocktail bar offers impressive views.
Location
In the center of Trastevere, a picturesque medieval neighborhood popular with tourists, but far from most popular sights
The Trilussa is located in the center of Trastevere, a neighborhood popular with tourists due to its distinct medieval architecture, quality restaurants, and iconic sights such as the Piazza di Santa Maria (a 15-minute walk away). A tram line is in the immediate vicinity, but the train station is not within walking distance. The area is filled with trattorias and shops as well as the Porta Portese Market, yet visitors should take precautions and beware of pickpockets. The main sights in the tourist center are not within easy walking distance -- it's about 25 minutes by foot to the Campo de' Fiori and Largo di Torre Argentina.
Rooms
Clean rooms, some with understated Louis XVI-style decor and modern showers
Decor varies by room, as the hotel has renovated many of these spaces. Some have understated Louis XVI style: dark wood floors and furnishings are offset by gold or light green walls. Recently renovated rooms add button-tufted headboards, white wooden furniture, and bright color accents. Bathrooms feature marble fixtures, towel warmers, and ultra-sleek (if slightly cramped) shower stalls. Some rooms also have small French balconies available (these cost more). Amenities include coffee/tea facilities, free Wi-Fi, a pillow menu, and minibars. Cribs are available upon request.
Features
Contains more amenities than your typical Roman hotel, including a large spa and gym
Any traveler looking to relax after spending a day out in the city will appreciate the two on-site spas at the Trilussa, available with advance booking and for an additional charge. The modern, mood-lit spaces contain a sauna, steam room, and whirlpool, and offer a range treatments, including massages for individuals and couples. There’s also a small fitness center available to all guest for no additional fee. Fast and free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel and the rooftop garden has a cocktail lounge that’s open during the warmer months. A meeting room is available for conferences and business travelers as well. The buffet breakfast is free for most guests (all but those staying in the Economy Double Rooms).
