Trevi Palace Hotel is a small modern property inside an ancient building in the center of Rome within a 10-minute walk of the Trevi Fountain. Renovated in 2016, the hotel features sleek colorful decor and uniquely curved hallways with hand-painted murals. The 13 rooms are bright and contemporary and have flat-screen TVs, minibars, and a good amount of space. A tasty breakfast buffet is available for a fee and is served in a vibrantly decorated space. There aren't many features at this compact mid-range property -- no fitness center or full restaurant -- but the on-site sauna is nice for relaxing after a long day of sightseeing around the city. Similarly priced Hotel Fontana has an excellent location facing Trevi Fountain, but a dated style and a fee for Wi-Fi.
Scene
Ancient palace with contemporary artsy decor for tourist couples
Housed in an ancient palace, Trevi Palace Hotel nonetheless feels modern and fresh thanks to 2016 updates. The common areas include a lobby that extends to a breakfast room, as well as dramatically curved hallways painted with murals by a contemporary artist. Decor has a young and artistic vibe, with stylish accents like a curved glass coffee table, and a wall mural of Roman sights in black against a white wall. Bright-yellow furniture and pendant lamps enliven the low-ceilinged breakfast area, while spiral metal-and-glass staircases lend sophistication to the lobby. Space is somewhat limited overall, as would be expected from a city center property, and there's not much seating in the lobby. Most guests are tourist couples and some families who want to be within a short walk of the main sights in Rome.
Location
Central Rome, between Piazza Venezia and Trevi Fountain
The Trevi Palace Hotel is located in the Monti neighborhood in the center of Rome, between Piazza Venezia (eight-minute walk) and Trevi Fountain (10-minute walk). The hotel is within a short walk of many restaurants and shops, and the main shopping street, Via Del Corso, begins 15 minutes' walk from the hotel. Other major sights like the Spanish Steps, Pantheon, and Colosseum are a 15-minute walk from the hotel. St. Peter's Basilica and Vatican City are 15 to 20 minutes by bus (a bus stop is two minutes from the hotel). The Trastevere area, popular for dining and strolling, is a 25-minute walk or 15-minute bus ride away. Leonardo DaVinci Airport is about 50 minutes away by car. Ciampino Airport is about a 40-minute drive.
Rooms
Clean and contemporary with minibars and flat-screen TVs
Rooms are decorated in a simple contemporary style and feature a gray and white color scheme. There is white furniture including desks, nightstands, and a good amount of shelving. Contemporary artwork in dark colors decorates the white walls, and floors are gray tile. Double and Triple Rooms range from 140 to 270 square feet and have space for up to four people. Beds are double or twin-size. Suites with soaking tubs and small sitting areas are also available. All rooms have free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, coffee- and tea-making facilities, air-conditioning, and stocked minibars. Bathrooms are roomy for Rome and modernly decorated with white and black tile, and gray-painted murals in the walk-in showers. Toiletries and hairdryers are provided. Noise doesn't tend to be an issue.
Features
Breakfast buffet (for a fee), sauna, and free Wi-Fi
As a small property in the city center, the Trevi Palace Hotel doesn't offer many on-site features. Most guests stay here for the convenient location and spend their days out exploring the city. However, the breakfast buffet is tasty and served in a colorful modern room -- for a fee. Limited room service is available. The sauna is the only other feature here, and is unusual for a small hotel in Rome. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. Helpful staff can offer recommendations for local sights and restaurants, as well as book tours and reservations. Airport shuttles are available on request for a fee.
