Star of Rome

The Star of Rome bed-and-breakfast was completely renovated in 2013, transforming the second two floors of private residences into a property consisting of three different bed-and-breakfasts that share a reception area (the bottom floor is still an office block). In addition to the common reception area, the Star of Rome consists of just five guest rooms and a breakfast room. The exterior of the building is nondescript; it matches the other residential and commercial buildings on the block. Inside, a marble staircase leads guests to a small reception area in a clean, white room that's built primarily for function. The breakfast room is tasteful and simple with generic wall art and a cafe-like ambience with white and blue walls, square tables, and a mixture of folding chairs and molded chairs. The Star of Rome is in easy walking distance to transportation and is fairly close to Vatican City via public transportation, making it a popular value property for leisure travelers, including couples and families. 

This bed-and-breakfast is located in a residential area northwest of Rome's city center, a 10-minute walk from the expansive and beautiful Villa Doria Pamphili park. While not the most ideal location for tourists, the property is still quite accessible to the city via several transportation options, including a taxi stand right outside the front doors. Several bus lines are also within easy walking distance. And guests can walk to the Valle Aurelia or Baldo degli Ubaldi metro stops in about 15 minutes. It takes about 15 minutes via public transportation (or a half-hour walk) to get to St. Peter's Basilica and Vatican City. The Colosseum is about 40 minutes away via public transport or 20 minutes by car. Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport and Ciampino Airport are both about a half an hour away, and the property can arrange taxi or shuttle service. Several restaurants, bars, shops, and a grocery store are within walking distance of the bed-and-breakfast.

Star of Rome only has five guest rooms, including three double rooms, one triple room, and one quadruple room, each with space for an extra bed. Rooms are fairly spacious and bright with simple, streamlined modern decor. Gray and white marble or wood parquet floors, white walls, and colorful accent walls behind the beds provide a polished backdrop. Furniture is white with gray accents; modern headboards come with built-in nightstands and bedside lamps. All rooms are air-conditioned and include a 32-inch flat-screen TV, coffee and tea making facilities, a stocked mini-fridge, a work desk, and a safe. Each room has a balcony with a view onto a terrace and the opposite building or onto the street. Double-glazed windows keep the rooms quiet. Bathrooms are simple and modern, with two-toned marble tiling and white fixtures, including sinks, toilets, bidets, and small showers. Bathrooms include individual toiletries and hairdryers.

This bed-and-breakfast has few on-site features, but it does serve a daily breakfast, free of charge. The breakfast is decent but not exceptional, with standard continental fare including a small selection of cereal, bread, fruit, and hard-boiled eggs, along with pretty good coffee. Guests can choose to have breakfast in their rooms for no extra charge. High chairs and extra beds/cots are available for families. Wi-Fi is free and an Internet-equipped personal computer is available for guest use. The Star of Rome can arrange shuttle and taxi service to the airport for an added charge.
