Has the chain hotel feel and lacks Italian character
Can be noisy and crowded when hotel is full
With eight meeting rooms and having an all-around office feel to it, the two-and-a-half pearl Giustiniano is geared toward business travelers. It's large and lacks a specific Italian character, but it's still a good option for tourists given its walker-friendly proximity to the Vatican and other historic sights. Because of its size, guests can remain more anonymous here than at one of the city’s many smaller, more intimate hotels.
Scene
Nice but lacks Italian verve
Part of the large NH Collection chain, the Giustiniano has 161 rooms and suites, a reception area, a large lobby with a bar, a conference center comprising eight spacious meeting rooms designed to fit 200 people, a restaurant-breakfast room, a small fitness center, and a garage. The hotel was built in 2006 and still feels clean and new, although the modern, polished furniture appears a bit uniform. The overall look is clean and definitely nice, but a little cold and devoid of Italian personality.
Location
Near the Vatican and the Castel Sant'Angelo right down the road
The Giustiniano is in the Meadows neighborhood of the Prati district of Rome, less than a five-minute walk from the Castel Sant’Angelo and Adriano Park, and within a 15-minute walk of the Vatican. Meadows is an elegant residential neighborhood in the center of Rome, busy and full of shops – mostly clothing boutiques – as well as offices, because the city’s court and financial district are down the road. There are several bus stops nearby and a metro stop 10 minutes from the hotel, offering quick transport to anywhere in the city, although the museums, fountains, and Colosseum can be reached on foot in less than an hour.
Rooms
New, spacious and polished
The rooms and suites are large, comfortable, and equipped with balconies, most of them offer beautiful views of the city, and some offer views of St. Peter's Dome and the St. Angelo Castle. Each room has an ultra modern (though rather sterile) bathroom with tub and showerhead. Stainless steel mini-fridges, safes, large flat-screen TVs mounted on the wall, spacious desk areas, and state-of-the-art coffeemakers make rooms convenient for business travelers and tourists. There is also free, unlimited and reliable Wi-Fi.
Features
Everything for big meetings plus bar, breakfast, and views
The hotel restaurant serves lunch and dinner, but the breakfast buffet, with hot scrambled eggs, sausage, and several cold dishes, is free to guests, as is the small fitness center and Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. There is also a 24-hour front desk and room service, dry cleaning, luggage storage, laundry, and babysitting upon request. Business travelers appreciate a large presentation and meeting center with eight rooms and a private (paid) parking garage on-site. Small pets are allowed for a fee.
