Navona Gallery & Garden Suites

Navona Gallery & Garden Suites is housed in a beautiful two-story 16th-century building, with much of the original architecture still intact. The entrance is rather understated, aside from the large wooden door and ancient knocker, but the Old World charm hits you as soon as you walk into the lobby. The common areas are decorated with antique furniture, rich rugs, and elegant artwork -- there's something eye catching in almost every corner. The historic architecture is evident via large columns, arched hallways, high ceilings, and huge wooden doors. The only common area is the wonderful, plant filled courtyard. Each room has a dedicated corner with table and seating area. Overall, this is a quiet, cozy property that appeals to travelers who appreciate a taste of the old Rome lifestyle. It's especially popular with couples, and  the larger suites are often booked by families and groups.

Navona Gallery & Garden Suites is located on Via del Governo Vecchio, a well known street that once housed the old papal government of Rome. It's now a quintessential Roman cobbled alley, complete with cafes, restaurants, grocers, and shops. Note that the hotel is situated on a pedestrian-only street, with no parking available. There are no metro stations within walking distance, though there is a bus stop a two-minute walk down the road. Piazza Navona square is a five-minute walk north, while Campo dei Fiori square is a five-minute walk south of the hotel. Campo dei Fiori hosts a popular farmers market in the mornings and turns into a party scene at night. The Pantheon, Colosseum, and Spanish Steps are all less than a 15-minute walk from the hotel. Vatican City is a nine-minute cab ride across the River Tiber. Termini Train Station is a 12-minute drive and Leonardo da Vinci International Airport is a 35-minute drive from the hotel. 

While the Old World decor and furniture in the public areas are charming, the well-kept rooms look a little fussy. Each room has its own color scheme, and while the style won't please everyone, it's pleasant enough. Decor is classic Italian, with antique furniture, tiled flooring, plain curtains, and striped or floral bedspreads. All rooms include air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, electric kettles, Nespresso machines, mini-fridges, safes, and TVs (some flat-screen, while some rooms still have tub-style TVs). Rooms face either the street or courtyard; some include their own balcony. The Michelangelo Gallery Suites accommodate up to five guests and include a kitchenette. The Pasquino Grand Suite accommodates up to eight guests in two bedrooms and a separate living area. Bathrooms are relatively small, with either a walk-in shower or shower/tub combo, hairdryer, and Italian toiletries. The Michelangelo Gallery Honeymoon Suite includes a hot tub. 

Navona Gallery & Garden Suites offers little more than the morning meal in terms of features. Guests are given breakfast vouchers, redeemable at two local cafes -- one directly opposite the hotel. There are no restaurant facilities on-site, with only a furnished courtyard and coffee machine for guests to make use of. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. Staff can arrange airport transfers for guests, as well as assist with bookings and recommendations for restaurants and attractions.
