JC Hotel is an upper-mid-range, 12-room boutique property located in the countryside of Laurentina, on the southern outskirts of Rome, a quarter of a mile off the GRA Ring Road. The rooms are boldly designed and colorful, and come with free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. Some have their own entrances, but industrial buildings surround the property, and there are no views. Be aware that peekaboo bathrooms don't offer much privacy. There is practically nothing within walking distance of the hotel, and it's best to have a car (the hotel offers free parking). The hotel is on a multiple-line bus route that goes to the Laurentina metro station, which links to Termini station, the hub of the Rome metro, in 11 stops.
Scene
Contemporary with white and purple color scheme; business travelers are the main clientele
The JC Hotel looks like a club resort. Outside, cars line the parking lot. Inside, wicker chairs and lounge umbrellas offer guests a pleasant retreat. Past the parking lot and the outdoor lounge is the hotel’s main entrance, where the reception desk sits. The general area resembles a well-decorated private residence, with sculptures, decorative branches, and a large stuffed teddy bear accenting the open bright white space.
Location
Outside the city center, not far from the airports, with links to public transportation
The hotel is located on the southern outskirts of Rome in an industrial area about a quarter mile off the GRA Ring Road. The area is served by multiple bus lines that go to the Laurentina metro station, from where guests can reach the city center in about 30- to-45 minutes. Historical sights such as the the Baths of Caracalla, Basilica di San Giovanni, Parco della Caffarella, Arch of Constantine, and Circus Maximus are within a 20-minute drive north. The hotel is about a 20-minute drive from both Ciampino and Fiumicino Airports, and the hotel can arrange airport transfers. Parking on-site is free.
Rooms
Bold, sleek, and modern; all but two rooms are on the ground floor and are reachable from the parking lot
10-ground floor rooms -- nine Standard and one Deluxe -- have private entrances and can be reached from the parking lot. One Junior Suite and one Suite are located on the second floor. Each room offers free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, minibars, flat-screen TVs, and iPod docks. Suites have LED lighting. The bedding and furniture are white, while the walls, window curtains, and bathrooms are boldly colored in either black or purple. Bathrooms all have stand-in showers and open views into the bedrooms, separated by only a door and glass panel. There is one soaking tub in the Suite, located at the foot of the bed.
Features
Free parking, Wi-Fi, and breakfast buffet
The hotel offers free parking, Wi-Fi, and a daily breakfast of juice, coffee, tea, and pastries. There is also a small bar adjacent to the lobby. The hotel offers “day solutions” to meet the needs of guests who need a room for only a few hours during the day. Transfers to and from Rome airports and the railway station are available for a fee.
