The Hotel Romance is housed in an 1880s mansion and decorated in a gaudy Baroque style; the small size and helpful staff lend to the welcoming, friendly atmosphere. The red-carpeted entrance is decorated with statues and an ornate chandelier, while the small lobby is full to the brim with gilded and red antique-style furniture. Tables, arches, and lots of colorful tapestries and artwork decorate the area as well, as does a flat-screen TV. The similarly opulent lobby bar has a red granite counter, as well as gold-framed art pieces, red rugs, and gold and red tufted chairs. The small breakfast room follows the same design, with over-the-top (bordering on kitschy) Baroque-style gold chairs, gilded chandeliers and art frames, and red tablecloths.

The Hotel Romance is located just east of Rome's city center, just beyond the Coliseum, in the quiet and little-trafficked neighborhood of Celio. In addition to the Colosseum, the Circo Massimo, Basilica di San Giovanni, Arch of Constantine, and the Forum are all within walking distance. The San Clemente Basilica, Golden House of Nero, Villa Celimontana, and plenty of dining, drinking, and public transit options are only marginally further. Both Ciampino and Leonardo da Vinci Airports are a 25-minute drive away.

Rooms at the Hotel Romance come in a wide range of sizes, and all are decorated in a similar, Baroque-inspired style, with gold or red wallpaper, antique-style bedspreads, hardwood floors, gilded light fixtures, and gilded headboards with tufted gray fabric. Gilded chairs provide extra seating, and rooms come with safes, mini-fridges, and small flat-screen TVs. All rooms have air-conditioning. Despite the atmosphere, most rooms are rather small and dark. The modern bathrooms have tan tiled floors, gray tiled walls, and gilded mirrors, as well as heated towel racks, hairdryers, and White branded toiletries. Some bathrooms are small though, and all only have showers.
