of its 157 guest rooms to be refurbished. Some rooms can be cramped, but they
are tastefully decorated and include flat-screen TVs and modern
bathrooms. The leafy outdoor terrace on the top floor has views over the city
rooftops, and it's a pleasant place for a nightcap. Breakfast is included in the
room rate, and free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property -- but access
can be spotty. For more of a boutique experience at reasonable rates, try

Scene
Charming interiors renovated in 2014
Hotel Nord Nuova Roma is located in a typical
six-story Roman building and a Sienna-colored facade with dark brown window
shutters. The hotel dates back to 1937, and as of 2014 the management is
completing an extensive refurbishment project. The charming lobby area is made
up of a series of interconnecting rooms with characteristic high ceilings,
parquet floors, chandeliers, and comfy red leather chesterfield sofas in the
sitting areas. The spacious, plant-filled rooftop terrace on the seventh floor
is a highlight, and it's a popular place for guests to relax with a drink in the
summer months and enjoy the views of the Baths of
Diocletian and the dome of St. Peter's Basilica. The
hotel draws couples and families who want to be close to many of the
city’s tourist attractions, but it's also a good option for business travelers
because of the excellent transportation links and on-site meeting rooms.
Location
Close to Termini train station and two metro stations
Hotel Nord Nuova Roma is
situated in a convenient location in the city center, a four-minute walk
from Roma Termini train station, and close to shops, restaurants, cafes, ice
cream parlors, and bars. Many of the city’s best-known tourist attractions can
be easily reached on foot. The hotel also has excellent access to the city’s
bus and metro systems, and it's located in-between two metro stations: Repubblica
and Termini, both of which are a four-minute walk away. From Termini train
station, there’s a direct service to Leonardo da Vinci Airport, a 30-minute
trip.- Three-minute walk to Santa Mariadegli Angeli
Rooms
Clean and simple rooms, some yet to be refurbished
The guest rooms at Hotel Nord Nuova Roma are decorated in a simple,
classic style and have high ceilings. Walls are painted in warm tones of
ochre or a neutral beige. The older rooms have outdated mosaic floors, and
tacky floral print pictures on the walls, but feature attractive oak furniture,
and are clean. Newly renovated rooms have parquet floors
and contemporary furniture with clean lines. Bathrooms are decked out
with marble vanities, bathtubs with a combined shower, and large mirrors. All
of the rooms have air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, safes, toiletries in the
bathroom, and minibars. There are a few downsides: Some rooms can be a bit
cramped, there's no electric kettle for making tea or coffee, and
the free Wi-Fi connection can be unreliable. Views range from a parking lot to the city streets, and noise doesn't seem to be a problem.
Features
Free breakfast, rooftop terrace, and meeting rooms
The free breakfast is served
each morning in the breakfast room on the ground floor, which looks like a cozy
cafe, with small tables pulled close together, and attractive architectural
prints decorating the walls. The charming rooftop terrace is laid with a
black-and-white-tiled floor, decorated with many potted plants, and has sun
loungers and umbrellas for those who want to relax, and attractive
wrought-iron furniture making up the bar area, where drinks are served. Room service can provide sandwiches and simple meals during the day, but there's no full restaurant. There’s
a free Wi-Fi connection available throughout the hotel, as well as an Internet
corner in the reception area, where there are three computers available for
guests’ use. Several renovated meeting rooms seat up to 45
people and include a Wi-Fi connection and audiovisual equipment.
The fitness center on the top floor is reasonably well-equipped with several cardio and weight machines, but it has a low ceiling. Parking can be arranged for an extra fee, and
small pets are allowed in the hotel at no extra charge.
