Scene

Shiny and modern inside and out

Situated in a large glass building with its own parking lot
in an area surrounded by apartment buildings, Hotel Artis has a sparse but
interesting decor in the lobby, including intricate wooden
sculptures and a Monet-style colorful paint job on the front desk. The
breakfast room is situated in the basement, and with a few modern paintings on the wall and a number of two-seat tables, manages to be bright and cheery in spite of no natural light. The meeting rooms are simple with minimal
presentation equipment.

Location

Near university, far from everything else

In Rome's Don Bosco neighborhood south of the city center, the
hotel is surrounded by apartment buildings. There's a grocery store next door, and
the University of Rome Tor Vergata is about a 10-minute walk away. To get to the
city center via public transportation, guests need to walk to the No. 558 bus stop on Via Romanisti, about five minutes away, and take the bus to the Giaquinto stop, and then walk to the metro station Subaugusta -- from there it's about a 20-minute ride to town. All told, it’s about a 45-minute
journey. La Villetta, one of Rome’s best restaurants, is within a 10-minute walk of the hotel, and Ciampino Airport is about 15 minutes away by car or taxi.

Rooms

Clean and new but lacking personality

Each of the Artis’ 70 rooms is clean and modern, equipped
with free Wi-Fi and a small LCD flat-screen TV, safe, air-conditioning, mini-bar, hairdryer, and an immaculate bathroom with bidet and enclosed shower. Each
room has a token piece of artwork on the wall -- interesting but not enough to
make the rooms feel warm. Though clean and functional, the Standard rooms and the slightly
larger Comfort rooms (which come with slippers and face cream), with their sheer
curtains, black leather headboards, modern desks, chairs and lamps, have little personality. Most rooms overlook the parking lot.

Features

Free parking, breakfast, and Wi-Fi

The hotel is far from the city center, so it offers free private
parking for those with cars.  A continental breakfast of yogurt, breads, cheeses,
meats, coffee, tea and juice is included in the price of a room, and there's free Wi-Fi throughout the
hotel. Three meeting rooms are convenient for business guests. Small pets
are permitted at no charge, but all guests are required to pay a small, daily tourist fee.
