Other attractions, aside from the Vatican, are a bit far
The upper-middle-range Hotel Alimandi Vaticano has an excellent central location in Rome, just opposite the entrance to the Vatican
Museums. Housed in a Neo-Classical building, the 24 spacious guest rooms are tastefully
decorated in an elegant style. Public areas are equally elegant, and the hotel's highlight is its large terrace on the fourth floor rooftop with views of the Vatican. A free hot breakfast buffet and Wi-Fi adds to the property's value. But one downside is noise from rooms that face the street. The nearby Columbus Hotel offers a good alternative with its historic setting and gourmet restaurant and bar,
though breakfast is not included in the room rate.
Scene
Neo-Classical building with stylish and elegant interiors
Hotel Alimandi Vaticano
occupies an attractive three-story Neo-Classical building located in a busy
neighborhood that gets many tourists because of its proximity to the Vatican
Museums. The hotel lobby is bright -- thanks to its many windows and high
ceilings, and pleasantly refined due to the warm honey color of the
wooden reception counters, the hanging light fixtures, soft pink
walls, and cool white marble floors. Decorative accents, like the vintage gramophone and
old-fashioned telephone, give a certain 1920s flair, as do the white tub chairs and settees carefully arranged to create a stylish lounge. The vast
majority of guests staying here are leisure travelers, especially couples and
families.
Location
Located opposite the entrance to the Vatican Museums
Hotel Alimandi Vaticano is
situated on the edge of Vatican City, directly across from the entrance to the
Vatican Museums. St. Peter's Basilica is a 12-minute walk from here. The hotel
is conveniently located to the city’s metro line: Cipro-Musei Vaticani
metro station is an eight-minute walk away, while Ottaviano station is eight
minutes in the opposite direction. Many buses service the
area, and there's a plethora of cafes and restaurants to choose from in the immediate vicinity.- Eight-minute walk to Piazzadel Risorgimento
Rooms
Spacious and stylish guest rooms decorated in a classical style
The guest rooms at Hotel Alimandi Vaticano are
spotlessly clean and decorated in a classical style that isn’t
overdone, as is the tendency in many other local hotels. The high ceilings and
tall windows let in plenty of light, while the white marble floors and soft
pink walls lend a pleasant and airy feel to the spacious rooms. Traditional wooden furniture in warm oak tones is well maintained, and
the elegant desk and wall lamps provide soft lighting. One of the Deluxe Rooms
has a private balcony. Impeccable white marble floored bathrooms have been renovated to a high standard, and are equipped with
modern fixtures, including bidets, walk-in showers with rainfall showerheads
(some rooms have tub and shower combos), double sinks, and towel
warmers in the Deluxe Rooms. All guest rooms feature air-conditioning, free
Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, minibars, electric kettles and tea-
and coffee-making facilities. Little extras such as toiletries, robes, and
slippers elevate the rooms. Windows overlook the hotel courtyard or the
Vatican Museums, and though sound insulation is good, ambient street noise can leak in. Light sleepers may want to
consider quieter courtyard-facing rooms. Two accessible rooms are also
available.
Features
Rooftop terrace that overlooks the Vatican, free breakfast buffet, and lobby bar
Centrally located hotels in Rome can skimp on the features, but Hotel Alimandi Vaticano offers a few extras that add to its value. The best feature could arguably be the scenic rooftop terrace located on the fourth floor, which shows off views of Vatican City. There's no on-site restaurant or room service, but a free breakfast buffet
offers a wide variety of hot and cold breakfast items each morning
in the bright and pleasant dining room located on the ground floor. The lobby
bar and its adjacent courtyard is a popular place for guests to relax with a
drink, which can also be whisked up the elevator to be sipped on the rooftop terrace. The hotel also offers
limousine and laundry service, and private parking is available on-site with
advance registration and for an extra fee. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout
the property.
