Bottom Line

Domus
Liberius is a small bed-and-breakfast offering six guest rooms in a typical Roman apartment building close to the Termini train station.
The value property has spotless
interiors and a modern style, but features are limited to a dining room where a free breakfast buffet is served daily. Bright, contemporary guest rooms are equipped with flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and free Wi-Fi, plus one of them also has a kitchenette. For another budget hotel by the train station with hipper decor, travelers could consider The Beehive.

Scene

Clean, contemporary bed-and-breakfast property

Occupying the third and fifth floors of an attractive neoclassical apartment building, this
bed-and-breakfast property is located right next to
Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica. Since it's not a traditional hotel, the Domus Liberius doesn't have a reception area, and the only public space is the breakfast room. It sports a clean and modern look with white walls and simple white
furniture highlighted with splashes of bright red provided by plastic chairs and table mats. Although it's simple, this clean, minimalist look is a
refreshing change from the overdone look of many Roman hotels. Still, this modern approach won't appeal to those looking for Roman grandeur. The property mainly attracts leisure travelers -- mostly couples -- but many
families also choose to stay here because of the triple and
quadruples rooms available.

Location

Located near Termini train and metro stations

Domus
Liberius is situated next to the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore,
and it's a seven-minute walk to Termini, Rome's main train station,
where a metro station is also located. A bus stop is outside the
door, as well as a taxi stand and the “Hop On, Hop Off” tourist
bus. There are many shops, bars, cafes, restaurants, and supermarkets
in the immediate vicinity.  - One-minute walk to the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore

Rooms

Bright, spotless rooms with contemporary decor and modern bathrooms

The
six guest rooms at Domus Liberius are bright and spacious with tall
ceilings and a fresh, modern look thanks to the parquet floors,
pristine white walls, and white furniture. The overall effect may be
too stark for some tastes as there's little decoration, but
the two guest rooms on the fifth floor have two-tone walls with a
warmer peach-and-cream color palette. Like the rooms, the bathrooms
are clean and modern with elegant gray tiling on the floor and walls,
and are fitted with large walk-in rainfall showers.
Some rooms have views of the neighboring Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. All rooms are equipped with air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, work desks, and free Wi-Fi, plus one of the
Quadruple Rooms also has a kitchenette. Guests should note that there have been some complaints of street noise.

Features

A few freebies including continental breakfast and Wi-Fi

On-site features are limited at the Domus Liberius, and they're principally focused on breakfast -- a continental spread that includes fresh pastries, bread, eggs, cheeses, yogurt, coffee, and juice. It's served in the breakfast room, which
also has a few vending machines selling water, soft drinks, and coffee
and tea. Other services on offer here include luggage storage, airport transportation, laundry, and fax
and photocopying. A free Wi-Fi connection is available throughout the property.
