All 18 units are bright and tidy, and come with air-conditioning and free basic Wi-Fi, but most have shared bathrooms, and dorm-style units lack in-room lockers or safes. Scene

Sparse but functional hostel-style hotel for friends traveling in groups

There's no single entrance to B&T Rooms Trani because units are housed in multiple apartment buildings within a small radius of Termini Station. One of these buildings contains the check-in office in a hallway-turned lobby. There's a slipcovered orange couch and a common mini-fridge, electric kettle, and espresso machine, but it's far from a place where travelers would want to linger. Guests stick to their rooms, and tend to be small families and backpackers who are in town to sightsee.

Location

Close to the train station and near restaurants, but far from some major sights

The hotel's proximity to the Termini Station gives travelers access to trains, the metro, and buses. The residential area around the various apartment buildings has several cafes, bars, and Italian and international restaurants. The hotel is also within walking distance to some sites, including the Baths of Diocletian and Santa Maria Maggiore. The Trevi Fountain and Colosseum are both a 25-minute walk away, or two stops on the metro. Private buses and express trains leave Termini regularly for the airport, making it possible to reach Fiumicino in about 50 minutes via public transportation. Taxis are also available outside the station.- Five-minute walk to the Baths of Diocletian

  • Six-minute walk to Termini Station
  • 15-minute walk to Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore
  • 14 minutes to the Colosseum via public transit
  • 17 minutes to the Trevi Fountain via public transit
  • 21 minute to the Pantheon via public transit
  • 26 minutes to St. Peter’s Square via public transit
  • 30-minute drive to Rome Ciampino International Airport
  • 40-minute drive to Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport

Rooms

Dorms and private rooms with baths, all with AC, but dorms lack lockers or safes

Guest rooms are located in several apartments within a four-block radius, and they're a mixed bag in terms of style and layout. Room types range from four-bed mixed dorms, to doubles with shared bathrooms, or doubles with pullout couches and private bathrooms. The shared bathrooms are unisex, and some guests note that they can be busy at peak times.  Decor is eclectic at best and tends toward vibrantly painted walls and contrasting-colored bedspreads. For example, two rooms we saw were painted a glittery hot-pink and had frosted glass sconces in the shape of roses. Interior design choices aside, units are tidy, with wardrobes and some have small desks. Dorms lack lockers or safes, but items can be left with the owner in the office for safe keeping if needed. Regardless of the room type, all are cleaned daily and equipped with air-conditioning and free basic Wi-Fi.

Features

Very limited, with a free basic breakfast, but high-speed Wi-Fi costs extra

Features are extremely slim at this budget hotel. There's a coffee machine, mini-fridge, kettle, and microwave in the entrance for shared use. Breakfast is free, consisting of a small basket with packaged pastries, coffee, and milk. There are no common spaces and no services. Limited free Wi-Fi (up to 100MB) is included, but guests have complained that it can be difficult to connect. A code is available at the front desk to access a faster connection for a small fee.
