Located outside Rome off the ring motorway that circles the city, the 38-room All Ways Garden Hotel & Leisure is not recommended for travelers without a car. This smart-looking, motel-style, mid-range hotel is five miles from Ciampino Airport, and can make for a convenient stopover at much lower rates than would be found in central Rome. The sleek modern rooms come with microwaves, freezers, minibars, espresso machines, and large flat-screen TVs.
Scene
Low-rise, motel-style complex set in olive tree gardens behind tall hedges
Guests pull off a
busy road, slipping behind high, sheltering hedges to the hotel's Art
Deco-style drive-through front desk. An Italian take on a U.S.-style motel, the setup is geared almost exclusively toward those arriving by
car. The property, built in 2007, is a long, low-rise complex encircled by a driveway that connects to all 38 units, each with its own parking space flanked by more tall
hedges. Set amid 50 olive trees on five acres of land, the atmosphere is secluded, with a countryside vibe.
Location
Located south of Rome's ring road at exit 25
The hotel is
located in Castel di Leva District, just off Rome's GRA ring
road (exit 25, Laurentina) on the southern outskirts of the capital. The area around the hotel is mainly
plowed fields and a few residential buildings, with little else in the
immediate surroundings. The location is at least a half-hour drive from the city center but less than 10 minutes away from the university's Bio-Medico
campus, and about five miles from Ciampino Airport. Although taking public transportation is not recommended, there is a nearby bus that connects to the Castel di Leva/Cacciopoli metro stop, with trains that connect to Rome's Termini train station.
Rooms
Smart, contemporary rooms with an excellent array of amenities
The smart, contemporary rooms have travertine tiling, dark-wood
flooring, and sleek furnishings, not to mention their own private parking spaces. In-room entertainment consists of 32-inch flat-screen TVs with several satellite channels and DVD players. Wi-Fi is high-speed and free. Kitchen and refreshment
facilities go beyond the norm, with minibars, freezers, microwaves, and espresso
machines. Bathrooms are small but up-to-date, with rain showerheads and
wall-mounted hairdryers.
Features
Free continental buffet breakfast
A continental
breakfast buffet is included in the room rate, and Wi-Fi is free, along with on-site private parking. The hotel provides an
airport shuttle service for a fee. Guests also get free admittance to an extensive health and
sports facilities at a sister property -- the All Time Relais & Sport
Hotel -- which is about a 10-minute drive away.
