The All Time Relais
& Sport Hotel is an upscale, 69-room property with a smart, contemporary look located in the southern suburbs of Rome. Its sports, fitness, and relaxation
facilities are considered among the best in Rome, although there's not much in the surrounding area and location is far outside the city center. Rooms
are sleek, modern, and clean -- if lacking in coziness. Wi-Fi is free, as are the minibars, breakfast, and entry to the extensive health, spa, and sports facility on-site.
Scene
Smart and contemporary -- if a little office-like -- interiors and gardens give a secluded vibe.
There's little in
the way of fanfare upon arrival at the All Time Relais & Sport Hotel -- a
tired-looking sign marks the turn-off to the car park, while a long, brushed
steel portico leads to an anonymous-looking entrance. Opened in 2005, the
hotel has an excellently turned out lobby, with crisp-looking white pillars, warm polished woods, and -- what seems to be the building's architectural signature -- travertine limestone brickwork and tiles.
While the low-profile leather furnishings and glass-top tables create a
slightly office-like ambience, the mood is hushed and pleasantly secluded. Outdoor
spaces include seating areas, patches of well-tended lawns, and stone
pathways that lead to various accommodations and what is surely the hotel's raison d'etre -- its extensive fitness and sports center with indoor and outdoor pools.
Location
Located in southern Rome's outskirts, just inside the ring road motroway
The hotel is
located in the commercial and residential EUR area set just inside Rome's GRA
ring road on the southern edge of the city. The immediate surroundings consist of
little more than apartment blocks and offices, while one of Rome's largest
shopping malls -- Euroma2 -- is within five minutes' drive. The location is far from ideal for tourists wanting to explore Rome's historic center,
though there are two nearby bus lines that connect to central Rome. For those with a car, the center city is at least a half-hour's drive. Proximity to exit 27 of the ring road
means easy access in and out of Rome, and the Leonardo da Vinci International
Airport is about a 20-minute drive away.
Rooms
Smart and sleek rooms with both free minibars and Wi-Fi
The hotel's 69
rooms are in the same contemporary design as the lobby, with
warm wooden flooring, crisp-looking white walls, and travertine tiling. Furnishings also follow the lobby's lead, with glass-top tables, leather low-profile sofas, and
hover-effect beds, all of which create a smart and sleek, though not particularly cozy space. Amenities include free Wi-Fi and minibars, and flat-screen TVs
with satellite channels. Bathrooms have glassed-in separate showers and tubs.
Features
Extensive health, relaxation, fitness and sports facilities -- all free to guests
The main
attraction is undoubtedly the hotel's All Round sports center comprising two
indoor and one outdoor pool, eight tennis courts, a huge gym, and various other exercise rooms. There are also a sauna, steam bath,
and whirlpool -- all are free to guests, although they are also open to the public.
There is no restaurant, although room service is available, and a simple daily breakfast is included in the room rate. On-site parking and Wi-Fi are
also available free of charge.
