Travelers looking for basic, rooms in the city center at a great value will likely enjoy a stay at A View of Rome. With just three rooms -- two standard and one family-sized -- the vibe here is an intimate one, so those who don't want much interaction with fellow guests or hotel staff may want to look into a larger property. The B&B has free Wi-Fi and a breakfast including hot items. It also stays true to it's name with views of some of the city's most notable sites from all of its guest rooms. However, rooms have dated decor and tiny showers, and the hotel has few features.
Scene
Situated on the sixth floor of a beautiful pink building with an intimate vibe.
Situated on the sixth floor of a beautiful pink building, A View of Rome is accessed by a tiny elevator that leads to a simple reception area and a tiny breakfast room. With just three rooms, the vibe here is intimate and friendly. Public spaces are lacking and a bit cramped, but overall it's a warm B&B with helpful and attentive staff.
Location
Location in the city center, within walking distance of the Metro stop Ottaviano.
A View of Rome is actually in the heart of Rome in the Prati district, situated in Piazza Risorgimento which is the starting point for some of the most popular bus lines servicing the city. But many of the city's most famous sights -- like St. Peters Basilica, the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, Castel Sant' Angelo, Piazza Navona, Piazza di Spagna, and the Pantheon -- are within walking distance. The shopping in the immediate area is considered some of Rome's best, and there are plenty of restaurants and cafes surrounding the building that houses the B&B.
Rooms
Rooms are basic, comfortable, and clean with great views of Rome.
Housed on the 6th floor, the apartment-style rooms at A View of Rome stay true to the hotel name: Each faces onto Piazza del Risorgimento and has a view of the Capital from the St. Peters dome over the Gianicolo hill and the Castel Sant' Angelo over to the Palazzo Vittoriano. The three rooms have air conditioning, private bathrooms, hair dryers, flat-screen TVs, and mini-fridges. Rooms are named for Roman Emperors -- Aurelius, Diocletian, Octavian -- and choices are two standard rooms or a family room with bunk beds and two bathrooms for larger parties. Room decor is dated and showers are tiny.
Features
Free Wi-Fi and breakfast are the favorite (and only) amenities at this B&B hotel in the heart of Rome.
While A View of Rome isn't long on its list of extras, it does the basics well. The free Wi-Fi is fast and reliable and breakfast is hot and fresh. The hotel staff will arrange car transfers to and from the airport or anywhere else a guest might want to go and they will also arrange for city tours or event tickets.
