Miramar Hotel by Windsor is an upscale option in
Copcabana's charming and vibrant Posto 6 area, a
short walk from Ipanema. The hotel's top feature is its rooftop
infinity pool with poolside bar and sweeping views of the ocean and mountains, though the famous beach across the street probably also merits a mention. There's a restaurant on site that serves an excellent free breakfast buffet, and the hotel's 200 sophisticated rooms have high-end touches like Nespresso machines and premium bath products -- some rooms come with ocean views. The hotel has more style than the nearby Orla Copacabana, though rates there can be significantly lower.
Scene
Contemporary hotel featuring rooftop infinity pool with ocean views
Situated at the southern end of Copacabana, Miramar
Hotel by Windsor is housed in a modern 15-floor building overlooking the ocean.
The interiors of the hotel are a classic mix of polished light marble, and shades of beige, brown, and purple, lending the common spaces a soft, classy air, with Asian accents like Buddha figurines. Guests gather in the lobby and around the
rooftop infinity pool, a thoroughly inviting spot with a poolside bar, deck with
lounge chairs and umbrellas, and panoramic views of the ocean and Rio's famous seaside mountains. The
wide sandy beach across the street is a major draw here as well. The hotel predominantly attracts couples on holiday, including many honeymooners, though business travelers and families are also frequent guests.
Location
Southern Copacabana location across from the beach
Miramar Hotel by Windsor is situated on Avenida Atlantica at the southern end of Copacabana. Just across the road from the beach, the hotel's Posto 6 address is inside of what's considered
the most charming stretch of Copacabana. A bus stop is outside the hotel and
numerous shops, restaurants, bars, and clubs are in the area. Copacabana Fort
and the Museum of the History of the Army are a short walk south. The vibrant
and upscale Ipanema area and General Osorio Metro station are a 12-minute walk,
while the Arpoador area with its surfing and scenic sunset views is a 15-minute
stroll. The hotel is a 10-minute drive from Praia Vermelha beach and the
funicular up to Sugarloaf Mountain. The National
History Museum, Rio Art Museum, Theatro Municipal, and Imperial Palace are all located in the Centro, a 20-minute drive from the hotel. The Maracana soccer stadium and Christ the Redeemer
statue are both within a 25-minute drive of the hotel, and it's about a 30-minute
cab ride to Rio de Janeiro/Galeão–Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport. Keep in mind that traffic is notorious in Rio and drive times may vary.

Features
Rooftop infinity pool with panoramic ocean and mountain views plus excellent free breakfast
Miramar Hotel by Windsor has plenty of excellent on-site features, but the highlight may be the rooftop infinity pool. It's a little small
for a genuine swim, but guests can sip a
caipirinha from the poolside bar and take in outstanding views of the beach,
ocean, and mountains. The rooftop-level fitness center offers the same views,
and features several treadmills, stair-steppers, and a weight machine. The
hotel also has a sauna. Should the pool not suffice, the beach is just across the street from the hotel, and lounge chairs, umbrellas, and towels are all provided for hotel guests for free. Beach attendants serve free
water and fruit cups as well. The hotel's lobby-level restaurant overlooks the
Copacabana boardwalk and features a large wine list and local Brazilian cuisine
with Spanish, French, and Italian influences. The excellent free breakfast buffet includes breads, pastries, cheese, a wide variety of fresh fruits,
coconut juice and other fruit juices, sparkling wine, crepes, and
cooked-to-order eggs and omelets. The hotel also offers concierge services,
uniformed bell services, car services (for a fee), a business center, and free
self-parking. On-call butlers are available and Wi-Fi is free throughout.
