The 356-room Rodos Princess Beach Hotel is a budget pick offering a lively vacation near the beach. The animation team is praised here, along with the several pools, which include a pool with slides for kids. There are a kids' club with playground, water sports rentals at the nearby beach, and many dining options on-site. The rooms are plain, lacking decor, and a touch institutional, though they do have balconies with pretty sea views (and Superior Rooms are available with more modern decor). Guests with limited mobility should be aware that the beach is only reachable via steep steps. As an alternative, the Boutique 5 Hotel has closer beach access.
Scene
Bustling family resort
Budget-friendly family fun is the central focus of the Rodos Princess Beach Hotel. The interior of the hotel mixes traditional and modern designs. The elegant lobby is furnished with flat-screen TVs and filled with natural light and eye-catching architectural and geometric details like a sleek marble spiral staircase that leads downstairs to a small atrium with blue framed windows. The hallways, though, are painted white and feel bare without any wall decor. With many families, children, and animation workers the atmosphere can be on the noisy side.
Location
On the far southeast side of Rhodes Island
Located in walking distance to Lagouni Beach, the hotel is on the southeast part of Rhodes Island and slightly removed from the more touristy areas, making a car a necessity. It takes 58 minutes by car to get to the water park. The airport is over an hour away. In the immediate area are other hotels, restaurants, and water sports rentals. The historical city of Rhodes -- with the Acropolis of Rhodes, the Palace of Grand Master of Knights, and the Archaeological Museum -- is over an hour away. Lindos -- with more shops, bars, and restaurants -- is a 21-minute car ride.
Rooms
Plain rooms with flat-screen TVs and gorgeous sea views
The hotel offers Double Rooms, Family Rooms, Superior Family Rooms, and Executive Suites. Rooms include minibars, safes, flat-screen TVs, and balconies or terraces with beautiful views of the blue sea. Furnishings in some rooms -- particularly the Double and Standard Family Rooms -- are fitted with traditional and slightly outdated furnishings like chunky wooden headboards and nightstands. There are more modern decorations in the Superior Family Rooms, which have mounted flat-screen TVs, sleek contemporary furniture, bath robes, and bouquets of fresh flowers. Superior Family Rooms and Executive Suites have two sofa beds, separate living rooms, and clean standard bathrooms.
Features
Several pools, multiple dining options, a gym, and supervised activities for kids
Guests at the Rodos Princess Beach Hotel can choose from multiple dining options including the main Dionysos restaurant with a buffet, white cushioned chairs, geometric ceiling designs, and large windows looking seaward. There's also the Venus pool diner, a gelateria, the Diogenis beach snack bar, and the small Neptune bar with a tiled rooftop. The Apollo main bar has hip red booths, trendy plastic chairs, and terrace seating. The hotel also has a mini club for kids ages four to 12 and a junior club for kids ages 12 to 17. A playground -- with lovely sea views -- is attached to the clubhouse.
The main pool -- where you can find a lively game of water polo -- is shaped like a lagoon with two palm tree islands, bridges, a nearby bar, an animation service desk with workout classes, and a beige deck with blue umbrellas and lounge chairs. Another pool has three blue and white slides that are large enough to accommodate adults and kids at the same time. The indoor pool is clean and small with some natural lighting. There are also two kids' pools outside, including one with a colorful playground that has small slides.
