Bottom Line

The 104-room, budget-friendly Pefki Islands Resort is built like an island village, with the large swimming pool as town square. Part of a three hotel complex, guests are free to use the facilities at all three properties. Built into the side of a hill, the resort offers spectacular sea and mountain views, but there are a lot of stairs that could be an issue for some guests. Rooms are simple and clean, with tidy kitchenettes for cooking basic meals. Families will appreciate a game room and kids' club on-site, but there is a pesky fee to use the air-conditioning.

Scene

Mid-range beach resort

The Pefki Islands Resort's lobby is simple and decorated in white, with light wood and earth-tone furniture, along with Mediterranean blue accents on woodwork. There is a lending library stocked with beach books, and the walls are hung with crafty mirrors, pottery, and other folk art. Guests have use of the bars, pools, and restaurants at the neighboring hotels. While the Pefki Islands pool and beach can be crowded, the pool and beach at Island Blue is adult-only and may be more relaxing for some. The atmosphere here is relaxing but can be noisy at times.

Location

Walking distance to Pefkos Village, on a private beach, with spectacular views

The Pefki Islands Resort is built into the side of a hill overlooking a turquoise bay, with a private sand beach offering great swimming and uninterrupted sun time. Pefkos is six-minute walk away, and there are bars and restaurants to be found there, but the village nightlife and dining scene are not incredibly hip. A local bus stops nearby for those who want to explore the island without a car. The town of Rhodes and the airport are a 45-minute drive from the resort.

Rooms

Large, airy rooms with pretty patios and kitchenettes

Rooms at the Pefki Islands Resort are large and airy, with white tile floors, light wood furnishings, and lovely balconies or terraces. The resort offers two-bedroom or studio apartments, both with kitchenettes stocked with dinnerware, pots, pans, and tea kettles. The two burner cooktop, mini-fridge, and small sink will likely not accommodate the preparation of large meals. Bathrooms are big, bright, and clean, with shower stalls. The decor is plain but pleasant, with travel posters on the walls and a cheerful vibe.

Features

Big pool with swim-up bar, kids' pool and playground, supermarket, and evening entertainment

The Pefki Islands Resort has a fun kids' program, with a mini club, children's pool, and sandy playground. There are billiard tables, air hockey, and arcade games for the younger set, and, in the evening, a mini disco. Adults may enjoy the swim up bars and late night bands and shows. The private beach, while narrow, is lined with umbrellas and sunbeds. Guests who have forgotten sunscreen or crave a hit of candy can find it in the resort's supermarket. The resort is hilly, but staff will ferry mobility-challenged guests from place to place via golf cart.
