The 381-room Eden Roc Resort is an upper-middle-range beach resort on the border of Rhodes and Kalithea. The beautiful seaside property is fully stocked with features for families and couples, including four pools, an amphitheater with entertainment, kids’ activities, various sports facilities, and three restaurants and three bars -- including a Champagne bar in the lobby. Rooms are modern and stylish, with unique touches like tree-printed wall coverings, touches of bright color, and balconies; some have sea views, and bungalows have access to a private pool. Bathrooms, though, are somewhat cramped and often in minor disrepair. Prices here are some of the cheapest on the island for a hotel of this caliber, but it may also be worth comparing rates with Rodos Palace.
Scene
Upscale modern hotel with serene sea views
The five-floor hotel offers stylish decor, interior space basked in natural light, and a peaceful beach setting that appeals to families and couples. The property includes a minimalist white main building, and separate bungalow area. The lobby is airy and spacious, with wood floors, small trees in gray pots, and clusters of armchairs in muted shades of green, brown, and gray. There's also a chic, white and aquamarine champagne bar in the lobby. Touches of modern wood paneling add style to the hallways, which share a fun spiral staircase. A cement pathway leads past the hotel’s green lawns to a private pebble beach with blue lounge chairs and wicker umbrellas. The pool area includes a water park pool, with three large slides, that borders a family pool. The deck is furnished with black stylish lounge chairs and white umbrellas. The main pool is large and suitable for laps with a lovely tiered waterfall. Nearby is the relax pool that offers beautiful views of the sea. Some blue lounge chairs, though, are slightly worn.
Location
Central beach location on the outskirts of Rhodes
The hotel’s location -- right on the border of Kalithea and Rhodes -- is ideal for travelers who want to be close to tourist attractions and the shingle shores. The beach is about a five-minute walk away, and there's a bus stop just outside for transportation to Rhodes town. Driving to Rhodes -- home to the Grand Master of Knights Palace and the Archaeological Museum -- takes five to 10 minutes. The Acropolis of Lindos is about an hour drive from the hotel, and the Afandou Golf Club can be reached in about 20 minutes. Rhodes International Airport is about 25 minutes away by car.
Rooms
Modern rooms with fun decor, flat-screen TVs, and balconies
The decor in rooms is modern and fun with unique furnishings, including sleek pale-wood furniture and floors, pops of bright color, and unique flourishes like woodsy wallpaper. Bungalows have sitting areas with couches, terraces, and access to a shared separate pool. Royal Suites come with two bathrooms, spacious balconies with sea views, sitting areas with flat-screen TVs, and luxe extras such as LED showerheads, espresso machines, and executive lounge access with free Internet.
Features
International on-site dining options, kids activities, and sports
If guests stay on-site there are plenty of dining options to appease families and couples. The main restaurant -- which is bright thanks to an atrium ceiling and lots of windows -- has a buffet that offers international fare and regional dishes like fried sardines. The sea is visible from both Taverna Dikti and the adjacent Beach Bar, made up of covered outdoor spaces with thatched wood, gray stone, and oversize pots of tropical plants, where guests can enjoy light snacks such as grilled octopus. The pool bar is a simple covered area with wicker chairs and tables; here, guests can grab a quick snack while gazing at the ocean. The nautical-theme Stone Bar inside the hotel is bright and modern. Half-board rates are available. Guests can use the on-site tennis court, join yoga classes in the garden, or use the watercraft docked at the beach. There's a mini-market for essential items. A kids' club and arcade-style games are also available.
