Belair Beach Hotel

The Belair Beach Hotel is a budget-friendly hotel in close proximity to the beach. The hotel has a family vibe, and has slightly worn and outdated furnishings that make sense given the lower prices. The four-floor hotel's exterior is welcoming, with quaint blue window frames, and a small mall is attached to the building. The on-site facilities appeal to families, including a pool, and kiddy pool that allows water toys (brought by guests). The pool deck is dotted with practical lounge chairs and blue umbrellas. The lobby and hallways are spacious, with a lot of natural light, and decorated in comfortable (albeit rather drab) furniture and red carpeting.

Located off a busy road, Belair Beach Hotel is across the street from the pebble shores of Ixia, about a 20-minute drive from Rhodes International Airport. The location appeals to tourists, as it's a short walk across the highly trafficked road to the beach, and a quick drive to the historical city of Rhodes. Sightseeing in other towns -- such as Ialysos, a great windsurfing spot -- is possible with a car. There's a bus stop outside the hotel and rental cars available in an attached mall. Faliraki, home to a water park, is about 20 minutes away by car. The medieval village of Lindos is about one hour away, and the ancient city of Kameiros is about 40 minutes away.

The hotel offers Single, Double, and Triple (family) rooms. All rooms have homey decor (synthetic fabrics and unattractive floral prints) that is slightly worn and dated. Rooms include safes (for a fee), mini-fridges, and tube TVs. The highlight of the rooms are stunning blue sea views, available from balconies in rooms that face the front of the hotel. Light sleepers should request a room away from the street side -- where traffic noises can be heard -- or poolside of the hotel. Some rooms have two twin beds pushed together.

The Belair Beach Hotel has two on-site bars and a restaurant with a buffet -- including free breakfast. The pool bar -- an expansive space that opens onto the pool area -- is decorated with soft-pink bar stools and white orb-like lamps. The lobby bar is colorful, with its purple chairs and wave-like wall mural, and offers a flat-screen TV, terrace seating, and a bright lounge area with sea views. The restaurant -- which occasionally offers an Italian buffet -- has flower-tiled floors, pink tablecloths, wood chairs, and large picture windows providing a lot of natural light. The property offers plenty of recreational facilities, all of which are a bit older but reasonably well-maintained: a ping-pong table, basketball hoop, tennis court, and kids' playground.
