Bottom Line

The nine-room Hotel La Moresca is a pretty mid-range property set a 10-minute walk from Ravello's center. Rooms are colorful and modern, all with furnished balconies, flat-screen TVs, minibars, and showers. Some have stellar sea views, while others overlook the hillside. Free continental breakfast buffets with sweet and savory fare are served on a top-floor terrace with gorgeous vistas, plus there's a rooftop deck with a couple of worn loungers and panoramic views. A ground-level eatery serves Italian dishes for lunch and dinner, and guests receive a discount. Free property-wide Wi-Fi is reliable, but parking requires a fee. This is a good pick for travelers who want to be a bit outside the hubbub of town, while travelers wanting to be closer to sights should consider Hotel Villa Fraulo.

Scene

Small property with pretty views and quiet setting

La Moresca occupies an old white building with small lancet windows, set across from a terrace with a monument and beautiful views. The compact front desk has shelves filled with books and surrounding framed photos of the area. From here, guests must take the stairs done in colorful mosaic tiles to their room, as there's no elevator. The hotel's main draw is undoubtedly the views; from rooms, the top-floor breakfast space, and a small rooftop deck, vistas of the hillside and sea are stellar across the board. Being a bit outside the city center means the vibe here is largely relaxed and quiet, attracting primarily low-key couples.

Location

A 10-minute walk from Ravello's main square

This hotel is set on a quiet street near a tourist information center and a few restaurants and shops. Ravello's main square, with a cathedral, souvenir shops, and restaurants, is a 10-minute walk away. Several restaurants, bars, and shops can be easily reached in a 15-minute walk. Two popular gardens, Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone, are a 10- and 17-minute walk, respectively. There's no parking at the hotel, but staff can arrange for public or private parking, both for a fee.Amalfi is a roughly 17-minute drive, while Positano is about an hour away, though these times greatly increase in the peak summer months. Naples and its airport are just over an hour away by car, and Rome is about a three-hour drive.

Rooms

Attractive rooms with cool artwork and modern amenities

There are just nine rooms here, all decorated in a similar attractive, contemporary style. Colorful tile floors and patterned tile headboards are fun and funky, as are cool modern artwork, interesting spherical lanterns, and antique photos. All units have doors that open to furnished balconies, with either sea or hillside views. Ask for a room on the top floor for the best vista. Beds are comfy, and all the expected amenities are provided, including minibars, flat-screen TVs, air-conditioning, workspaces, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. Wi-Fi is also free. Some bathrooms are a bit compact, but they have modern showers, bidets, a full range of toiletries, bathrobes, and slippers. As there's no elevator, travelers with mobility issues should request a lower-level room.

Features

Free breakfast, ground-floor Italian restaurant, and rooftop loungers

Hotel La Moresca utilizes its hillside location to provide beautiful views from some common areas. Situated on the top floor is the breakfast room, which has two levels and stellar sea and hillside views. Plastic shades are used in inclement weather, and ample shaded and sunny seating options are available. The free breakfast spread consists of savory and sweet baked goods, yogurt, cereal, cold meats and cheeses, and fruit. Staff are on hand to prepare espresso and coffee drinks. Lunch and dinner are available at the ground-floor Locanda Moresca, which serves Italian fare such as pasta and seafood. Guests receive a discount on dishes. For the highest vantage point, guests can make their way to the small rooftop deck. It has just two worn-looking loungers, but it provides panoramic vistas. Wi-Fi is free, while parking requires a fee.
