Homewood Suites Mont-Tremblant

The long, green awning with the hotel's name is giveaway, but it otherwise looks just like one of the many colorful townhouses found in this beautiful pedestrian tourist area. Inside, the lobby is a bit dark, and while the layout makes for some cozy corners, some travelers may find seating areas slightly awkward. But the space is attractive, with red, curved couches flanking the entrance and a small seating area in front of a stone fireplace. Walls are covered with light-wood wainscoting, and they're dotted with colorful artwork and photos of outdoor winter scenes. The hotel is popular with families looking for easy access to the ski slopes.  

The hotel is located in a prime spot for anyone visiting Mont-Tremblant, inside the village's pedestrian area, right at the base of the mountain. The gondola that ascends the mountain is within short walk, and the hotel offers ski-in/ski-out access close to the slopes. Village attractions, including restaurants, shops, bars, and other resorts, are within a few minute's walk, and the beach of Lake Tremblant is just a four-minute walk from the hotel. Mont-Tremblant International Airport in La Macaza is about a 45-minute drive, and Montreal's Trudeau International Airport is roughly a 90-minute drive away. 

The hotel has 103 one- and two-bedroom suites with full kitchens, but decor is somewhat dated, and spaces are dark. Small windows, gray carpeting throughout, and accent walls in gray or brown doesn't help, and there's minimal nature-themed artwork. Bedrooms have queens or two double beds and 32-inch flat-screen TVs, while separate living areas have 37-inch flat-screen TVs atop gas fireplace mantles, and aging chairs and sofa beds that show wear (some have stained upholstery). The full kitchens have tiled floors and a full range of appliances; ovens with stovetops, refrigerators, microwaves, dishwashers, and coffeemakers, plus dishes and cookware. All suites have dining tables that seat four or six guests. Varying layouts can include lofted bedrooms, separate dens, and/or furnished balconies and views of the ski slope. Upgraded two-bedroom suites also add Murphy beds and can sleep up to eight people. The bathrooms vary in size (some are quite cramped), with average shower/tub combos.

Apart from the hotel's direct access to the ski slope, it also has the benefit of an outdoor pool terrace, with loungers and umbrella tables surrounded by pine trees beneath the colorful townhouses. The pool is only open seasonally, but across the stone sundeck, a long, lazy river-shaped hot tub stays open year-round, plus there's a sauna. There's no fitness center or full restaurant or bar, but a free continental breakfast with hot options is served in an on-site breakfast room. There's also ski lockers and a coin-operated guest laundry room. Freebies include weekday evening snacks, free grocery shopping service, and Wi-Fi throughout. Parking is available for an extra fee.
