Bardessono
6526 Yount Street

Swank yet eco-friendly, this 62-room resort opened in 2009 with a mission of sustainability and luxury. Proud of its LEED Platinum certification awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council for leadership in environmental design, the hotel is solar-powered, sources its water from geothermal wells, and uses organic cleaning products. The modern rooms are plush and the bathrooms are spa-like, complete with a pullout massage table in each one. After a day of biking and vineyard visits, guests can lounge in covered sun beds by the rooftop pool, visit the spa, or enjoy a farm-to-table meal at Lucy Restaurant and Bar. The professional staff can arrange everything from hot air-balloon rides to pedicures on the guest room balconies.

Vintage House
6481 Washington Street

Redesigned in late 2017, this four-pearl option (formerly known as Vintage Inn) is part of The Estate Yountville -- a 22-acre downtown development that includes a shopping/dining complex as well as another hotel with a luxe spa and fitness facilities that guests are welcome to use. Vintage House itself has landscaped grounds dotted with cottage-y brick and clapboard buildings containing 80 rustic-refined rooms, all of which feature fireplaces, patios or balconies, 65-inch flat-screen TVs, minibars, Nespresso machines, rainfall showers, free Wi-Fi and more. Outside you’ll find a pretty pool, but if you want to be closer to the spa or other key amenities, consider staying at Villagio, the property's sister hotel, instead.

Napa Valley Railway Inn
6523 Washington St

The Napa Valley Railway Inn's guesthouse is designed like an old train station, with eight guest rooms that are converted antique rail cars. All have modern conveniences like mini-fridges, coffeemakers, private bathrooms, and they open to shared patios. It's an excellent value in the heart of Yountville, down the street from places like Bouchon and The French Laundry. There's a small on-site coffee shop and bakery, but there's no full restaurant or proper breakfast served, and reception has limited hours. Compare rates at the nearby Maison Fleurie - A Four Sisters Inn, which adds an outdoor pool and free breakfast.

North Block Hotel
6757 Washington St

Housed in a tiny Mediterranean-style complex, North Block Hotel is well-suited for a romantic getaway, thanks to an intimate and upscale spa offering Napa-inspired treatments and packages for couples, a lovely pool with a whirlpool and padded loungers, and a cute courtyard with fireplaces and greenery. The property’s 20 rooms are cozy and elegant, featuring wonderful beds, espresso machines, and outdoor spaces, as well as luxe bathrooms with separate tubs and showers and heated floors. Some units have gas fireplaces. Redd Wood, helmed by Michelin-starred chef Richard Reddington, is a popular hangout spot serving delicious Italian cuisine in a sleek space. This is one of the most expensive hotels in Yountville, but its stellar location near fantastic restaurants and a short drive from wineries and golfing is excellent. Bardessono is another outstanding luxury pick in the area.

Napa Valley Lodge
2230 Madison St

Set on a Cabarnet Sauvignon vineyard, Napa Valley Lodge has countryside ambiance galore while also being a mere 10-minute walk from the town of Yountville. The 55 rooms here come with private balconies and capsule-style coffeemakers, and some spaces have fabulous views of the surrounding vineyards. There's no restaurant on-site, but the hotel can arrange reservations at nearby spots on guests' behalf. A tiny gym and breakfast room are on the property as well, as is a spa that offers an array of facials, body treatments, and massages. ****

Hotel Yountville
6462 Washington Street

Located on the main street, just minutes from Yountville’s best restaurants, this four-pearl boutique hotel promises a relaxing Wine Country retreat. An airy great room that doubles as the lobby gives the impression of an oversized yet elegant vacation house. Beyond that, the 80 casual-chic guest rooms -- equipped with fieldstone fireplaces, 55-inch flat-screen TVs, and, in most cases, four-poster beds and jetted tubs -- further enhance the homey vibe. The property also offers a full-service spa, a courtyard pool, event spaces, and assorted freebies (Wi-Fi, wine tastings, and loaner bikes among them); however, there’s neither a fitness center nor all-day eatery here. If you’re looking for a comparably sized alternative with more on-site amenities, consider Vintage House instead.
