DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel & Spa Napa Valley - American Canyon
3600 Broadway St

Affordable rates and beautiful grounds are top attractions at the upper-middle-range DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel & Spa Napa Valley – American Canyon. It’s located well outside Napa, but the payoff is lower rates than most hotels in its class that are more centrally located. Highlights include a full-service spa, restaurant/bar featuring locally-sourced food and wine, event space, and free parking and Wi-Fi. It also has a fitness center and outdoor pool/whirlpool adjacent to a lovely lagoon, but both are small. Its 135 guest rooms are comfortably sized and well-equipped with flat-screen TVs, Keurig coffeemakers, and mini-fridges, but decor is drab and dated. Travelers looking or accommodations closer to Napa can consider Best Western Plus, but it doesn't have a restaurant or spa.

Fairfield Inn & Suites Napa American Canyon
3800 Broadway Highway 29

For those looking to avoid Napa's high hotel rates, the lower-middle-range Fairfield Inn & Suites Napa American Canyon represents a solid choice. Its location is less than stellar, well outside downtown Napa, but the amenities list is attractive, including a free hot breakfast, pool, fitness center, guest laundry facilities, and free Wi-Fi. Its 80 guest rooms -- all studio-style suites -- are clean, spacious, and include kitchenettes and sleeper sofas. That said, they’re dark and in need of a refresh. Fortunately, plans for a major renovation were underway during our visit. Rates are appealing and comparable to the nearby DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel & Spa Napa Valley – American Canyon, which has a restaurant and spa, but its breakfast costs extra.
