Torre Rinalda Residenza is a large resort and time-share spread out over 24 acres and situated directly on the beach a 20-minute drive from Lecce. It is geared towards families with children and has a variety of housing options available, the smallest of which may be on the basic end for some tastes. The 230 rooms all have a small outdoor space. There is little immediately surrounding the hotel, and while there are plenty of amenities on site -- including a supermarket and a few other shops -- many guests have noted how pricey these options are. This portion of the coast receives strong winds a lot of the year.
Scene
Single-level villa-style apartments spread out over a large area
The property is fairly sprawling; it is essentially it’s own village comprised of individual, whitewashed cement-block structures that are set among palm trees and pines along a cement-tile walkway. The lobby building and shops are housed in the same type of structure; the effect is of an airy, if simple, summer camp. Guests may want to note that area spans 24 acres. Families in particular flock to this property because of the activities available to children and the proximity to the beach.
Location
Thirty minutes from Brindisi airport, 15 kilometers north of Lecce
Set directly on a sandy beach three kilometers from its namesake, Torre Rinalda, the hotel is located in an area free of other commerce. Guests have commented that the beach here has dark sand. There is no public transportation to Lecce, the nearest large town, which is accessible via a 25-minute drive; commerce can also be found in the slightly closer town of Squinzano (15-minute drive).
Rooms
Dated bedding and bland furniture in modest apartments
All the rooms here are adjacent to a small, covered patio with a table and four chairs. Some apartments are equipped with a tiny mini-fridge; others have a medium-sized fridge that would be more suitable to in-room cooking projects. Recently renovated rooms, of which there are a few, contain slightly more updated furniture; all have laminate surfaces, ceramic tile floors, air-conditioning, and satellite TV. There is no decor here; some guests have noted the lack of a hairdryer, and that the rooms overall seem spartan.
Features
Two restaurants, two pools with frequent activity, tennis courts, and shops
Laid out like a self-sufficient village, the grounds enclose a few pricy shops, a hairdresser, and a coin laundry. Entertainment facilities include a large, outdoor stone amphitheater, grass tennis courts, an adult and a children’s pool, a playground, and a dog run. The restaurants receive generally positive reviews here.
