The 240-room luxury Ostuni Rosa Marina Resort offers an abundance of activities for guests of all ages. The grounds are huge and beautifully landscaped, with three big pools, including one for kids and one dedicated to relaxation. Marina di Ostuni beach is reached via shuttle train or on foot, down a gorgeous stone path. Rooms are big and airy with cool stone floors, beachy linens, white wood furniture, and furnished balconies with views of spectacular gardens. The hotel is especially popular among families with kids, and it does get crowded in the summer months. Couples looking for a quiet getaway may want to consider the Hotel Monte Sarago, Hotel La Terra, and La Sommita Relais & SPA, which all offer more intimate surroundings at comparable prices.
Scene
Airy and elegant, with a real Mediterranean feel
The Ostuni Rosa Marina Resort is elegant and laid back, with vaulted ceilings and arched windows, and views of palm trees, cactus gardens, and brilliant flowers in every direction. Everything is painted white, and the walls feature photos and paintings of Ostuni, the "White City." Skylights and windows with elaborately carved shutters are part of the Mediterranean vibe, as is the bar, which features a white grand piano, bright floral paintings, and an outdoor terrace covered with sail-like canvas shades. Other details -- like white wicker chairs and the thatched roof at Il Pontile Beach Bar Restaurant -- contribute to the hotel's charm. Although the beach isn't visible from the hotel's common areas, the decor brings the feel of the Saterno Sea inside.
Location
A holiday escape on the Salento Sea, on the outskirts of Ostuni
The Ostuni Rosa Marina Resort is in a neighborhood of holiday homes and villas right on the Salento Sea. The resort is 300 meters from the beach, accessible down a private path that crosses a lagoon. Guests who want to explore the region must rent cars, as there is no public transportation. The hotel does run a shuttle to central Ostuni, seven miles away. Brindisi Airport is 25 miles from the resort, and, for golfers, the San Domenico Golf Club is eleven miles away. Other tourist sights in the area include Ostuni Cathedral and Torre Canne Beach.
Rooms
Upscale and beachy, with nautical touches and pretty architecture
Rooms at the Ostuni Rosa Marina Resort are bright and airy, with mostly white furnishings and blue nautical details. They mix contemporary elements, like atmospheric lighting and a mix of blue or beige printed fabrics, with gorgeous stone floors. Rooms and suites also feature furnished verandas or balconies with lush garden views to complement the hotel's beachy theme, in addition to architectural alcoves and nooks. Deluxe rooms also have built-in tables and sleek white benches, as well as loungers. Platform beds throughout the hotel are on the firm side. Bathrooms in suites are more spacious than in deluxe rooms, but they all have traditional decor, and old-fashioned hair dryers.
Features
Lots of amenities and a private beach, which does get crowded
The Ostuni Rosa Marina Resort features a private beach with outdoor showers, sunbeds, and fantastic bar/restaurant, all accessible down a pretty stone footpath or via a shuttle train. The beach does get crowded with families and kids, though. Il Pontile Beach Bar Restaurant, right on the sand, serves pizza and light lunch on cloth-covered tables. There is a sunny outdoor terrace area with huge comfortable couches and beanbag chairs. Most of Il Pontile is elegant, but there is a section that feels more like a snack bar, with ice cream and other quick bites. There are three outdoor pools on the grounds, including a serene pond, isolated in a little valley surrounded by rocks and foliage. The hotel also offers an abundance of supervised activities for kids, as well as sports and entertainment programs for adults. Non-Italian speaking guests, however, might have a difficult time participating. The hotel's restaurant buffet serves excellent food, including a la carte entrees at tables, and appetizers and desserts offered buffet style on pretty white wood. The resort also has a shopping arcade featuring a small store and an assortment of unique Apulian handicrafts.
